Saw the corned beef and cabbage special promoted on their website, and arrived at 5pm without a reservation. I was seated promptly and served promptly, but noticed the dining room filling up quickly. I got a generous portion of corned beef, moist and tender, with boiled red potatoes, carrots, and cabbage cooked just right, all nicely seasoned and well-presented, with... More

Had dinner one evening with a business associate. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. (medium rare for me, medium for him) veggies were crisp, just a over all good filling meal.

The interior atmosphere belies this little gourmet restaurant. I had the pasta bowl with grilled veggies (I'm normally a vegetarian) with Asian ginger sesame dressing, but I should also have ordered the shrimp, too. (I do make exceptions.) Their tasty hot rolls with butter served with the side salad were perfect. But the creme broulet with fresh berries and whipped... More

I was greeted immediately when I walk in. The service was great, friendly, outgoing. The food was good and great prices. I sat in the bar area, the atmosphere was quiet, different sports on all the TV's. Which to me is impressive. I don't think there was anything that I liked least. This is a great place, whether you want... More

We enjoyed a special Customer Appreciation lunch yesterday with a friend who has never been to the Blue Ridge Cafe in Ruckersville, Va. We all LOVED our meals - and the 25% discount this week didn't hurt us a bit! My husband and I ordered one of our all-time favorites - Fried Shrimp Platter. This platter is accompanied by a... More

On a very cold January afternoon, there's nothing like a big mug of coffee spiked with Kahlua! It warmed me from the inside out and made a wonderful lunch even better. We live in Culpeper & always stop here when we go to Charlottesville & have never been disappointed. Me, I enjoy the veggie quesadillas while my husband loves the... More

Hearty American fare and seems to be a favorite with the locals. We were passing through and stopped for lunch on a weekday. Staff were friendly and efficient. Plenty of parking in and around. Conveniently located on US 29 a minute or so away from the main Ruckersville intersection. Ordered the dragon burger (in spite of the server trying to... More

We went here for a quick and relaxing meal during a busy weekend stay. The food was good, the soup was awesome. Very clean bathrooms! It was a little difficult to navigate the dinning area, the tables were extremely close together. Overall, it is a good go to for a quick lunch or early dinner.

My wife and I frequent this establishment. The food is always great. They have great wings and offer a good seasonal menu option. The staff is always kind and helpful. The bar is great. They have plenty of T.V.'s for any of the sporting events you want and they also have the football package.

Thank Keith R

Chef Shawn Hayes, owner and chef of the Blue Ridge Cafe, has a real passion for food and creativity. He believes that good food, well prepared and offered at a reasonable price keeps his customers coming back. And, it's true!

Virginians and travelers have been enjoying Shawn's cooking since he and his wife, Rita, opened the Cafe's doors in 1995.

Dreaming of being a chef in the hospitality industry since age 12, Chef Hayes pursued his ambition and received a degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in 1988.

Since then, he and his family have dedicated days, nights and weekends to ensuring the success and quality of their business. Rita assists Shawn wherever she is needed - from the kitchen to catering and menu planning. And, the Hayes' daughter, Elizabeth, actually christened the cafe with her birth just 12 hours before the scheduled opening. The first banquet room was opened in 1997 just after their son, Nicholas, was born. Both children have grown up working with and around food at the cafe and catered functions.

His years of experience in the field, and being in the right place at the right time, enabled Chef Shawn to make his dream come true. He enjoys preparing a variety of different foods, but his specialties are American fare and Italian cuisine. In addition to his role as Chef, Shawn is also involved in every other aspect of the Cafe, including managing the catering and banquets, the business office and designing the menus. Shawn and the Cafe are also known for their support of and dedication to the local community.

The Blue Ridge Cafe is located on Route 29 (south bound lane) in Ruckersville, VA, just north of Charlottesville. Surrounded by the lovely Blue Ridge Mountains, visitors to the Cafe are sure to enjoy the atmosphere. Whether for lunch, dinner or socializing over drinks and appetizers, the Cafe offers its customers delicious food, a full-service bar and a wide variety of Virginia wines.

The Blue Ridge Cafe is the perfect place for gathering family and friends. So, if you'd like to experience Chef Shawn's knack for making even simple foods spectacular, stop by the restaurant or call to book your next catered affair today!
