A return to the Windmill for Sunday lunch. We've been a few times before, and always enjoyed it. On this visit we had pleasant weather which added to our appreciation of the view across the Bristol Channel. As usual, it was busy; full of families and couples eating, with locals in for a pint very much in the minority. There... More

We popped in on our way home for dinner and convenience as we had traveled some distance. We purchased drinks and ordered Fish and Chips and a Lasagne. Service was friendly and quick. That's where things went down hill, at least for me. The fish batter looked overcooked and indeed was very hard and crisp. The fish was very wet... More

Hi, dunernin, I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your fish. We have had supplier issues with our Cod and have only been delivered frozen instead of our usual fresh, as a result we have now changed our fish to Haddock during May, until the cod supplies are available again. We have had signs up about this and... More

Lovely views, nice service generally , fresh food delicious. Down side Sure I was tricked into service charge or an extra drink I didn't have which is not so good as I was not given an itemised receipt.

We used to go to the Windmill regularly and always a reasonable meal, but since Fullers have had it the quality has fallen away. Our visit this evening was at best poor. Lasagna was basically pasta and cheese and devoid of meat, chips dry. Shepherds pie seemed to be topped with cheesy 'smash'. As for the brownie it was just... More

Good Morning Gorbren, I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your meals last night. There was a staff member on the floor checking back to all the tables so if your table was missed I must apologise, We would have certainly tried to sort any problems at the time. The mash potato on the shepherds pie is fresh... More

Nice pub with great views over the Severn. Nice to sit out on the garden as well on a summers evening. The pub and car park get very busy so worth booking, especially if you want a table with a view! I would say the food was average for the price we payed but this pub is well worth a... More

My partner and I decided to spend the day in Portishead. I pre-booked a table in the restaurant online - a very easy process - and requested a table in the window. We were lucky to get table 51 (for 2 people). The view looking over the Bristol Channel is amazing and this table afforded views in both directions. My... More

It may seem like an insult to some but I like a good Wetherspoons. Although The Windmill Inn has similar vibes to a Spoons it's food supersedes it. You can't go wrong with the Sunday roasts. The drinks are on the pricey side but I suppose you're paying for the views which are incredible. Always friendly service.

Great location with super views over estuary but our meal was very poor. All six of the meals were tepid. It felt like they had been on the counter for at least 15 minutes before being brought out. Three of us had scampi. As well as not being very warm, all three were slimy inside. The childrens' fish and chips... More

Came here for the first time on Easter Sunday for tea, we booked a table as we thought it would be busy which it was when we arrived. Garlic mushrooms to start which came with a paprika mayonnaise which was different but really tasty. I ordered 1/2 chicken roast dinner. Chicken portion was a decent size, roast potatoes, roasted veg... More
