We loved our visit to Potyo for a meal one evening at 8pm after going to the cinema. We had a warm welcome which was a good start. The waiters made some helpful comments on the menu and suggestions when we asked. As a result we chose a mixed starter to share and a main course from the "Potyo's favourites" section of the menu, plus beer to drink. My pork vindaloo was excellent, far removed from the hot and uninteresting vindaloo typical of many a run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant. Here the chef obvously takes pride in the food he serves. My meal was bursting with subtle tastes with a hint of vinegar. Nothing overpowering, everything just right. My wife was equally pleased with her chicken. Two waiters attended to us and both were helpful, polite and friendly. Jason, the owner and chef, came out to chat with guests which was a very nice touch. He communicated his enthusiasm for his restaurant and the food he offers. All in all it was a very sophisticated experience which was enhanced by the fact that the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we went, just a few other tables occupied, which was rather a shame. It deserves to be extremely popular. We will certainly be going back before long.

Came for a Saturday evening with my Dad, we are both veggies. Good was great, the service was very friendly. Even though I ordered multiple breads and glasses of wine the final bill was very reasonable. Will return next time I visit Wilmslow

This was our first visit to this place and we had high hopes of something a little different. On the whole it was different, great spicy potato starters and the curry, whilst not overly spicy was packed full of flavours. However, it was all let down through the use of chicken thigh meat and not beeast meat. When we mentioned this we were told that this all they use, but if you want to ring up and give them 24hrs notice they will get some in. Seriously? What other restaurant do you ring and ask to get ingredients in because you would like to come and have a meal? Simpler to just have the option of breast meat for an extra 50p so that you have the choice. Would we go back? Highly unlikely.

We visited on a busy Saturday evening. The restaurant is small( cosy) bright and decorated in a curious way with some nice caricature murals on the walls - not sure how this ties in to a coastal Indian vibe but it was interesting. The service was a little erratic to start with - the waiters couldn’t seem to decide who was waiting on our table with the result that we were repeatedly asked if we’d like to order drinks, starters etc They worked it out between them and, then onwards the service was great. The food was very good. A combination chicken & prawn sharing platter, to start with, was very nice with excellent flavours. I’d have liked to have seen it better presented with some salad or vegetable embellishment but hey. The mains were also very good. My Boatman Curry Bowl was nicely cooked, subtly flavoured and whilst a little short on fish, was very enjoyable with the lemon rice helpfully recommended by our waiter. My wife’s Butter Chicken Curry bowl was good but was heavy on sauce. Drinks were expensive and there was some confusion over the size of beer / wine ordered and paid for. When the bill came I was slightly surprised at the total and disappointed to see a 10% “discretionary” service charge added. The service was good but the high prices charged should more than cover the cost of providing the service and anything additional should be left ( properly) to the discretion of the customer.

Had really wanted to like Potyo as appreciate independent restaurants and wish to support. The starters were mainly deep fried and the main, despite being in the 'favourites' section was awful. Having asked if the Roasted Chicken Cafreal was boneless (and confirmed that it was), very disappointed to be served two big pieces of chicken that were mainly bone and skin with a bun and some runny sauce on the side - make your own chicken burger! Could have been so much better and some greens added would have been more healthy too. Such a pity. Staff were friendly (despite lack of knowledge) and the atmosphere was good.

Reluctant to write this review as it may make more people visit the place, rather than keeping it to myself, however in the interests of community spirit and all that, here goes. Not your normal high street 'Indian', this is the real deal with properly blended spices and masalas , not out of a jar or a tin. This is the same as you would expect to get in a very good restaurants in India, especially south. We had the Meen Polichotto and a Pork Vindaloo for the main courses, excellently cooked , we ordered several other dishes (far too much but we wanted to see how authentic the place was) as there are not many places you can get proper bonda and okra. Staff very friendly , cobra beer on tap, very casual surroundings with right atmosphere. Will be back many times i am sure.

We went to Potyo for a Sunday family lunch and was not disappointed. The decor was wonderfully refreshing and made us feel like where where in a coastal restaurant in the Mediterranean. The owner was there to welcome us and talked us through the menu and give us suggestions making us feel at home like part of the family. The food was wonderful and authentic and left us wanting more. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

We visited this Goan restaurant for the first time and we will definitely be back. Everything was amazing. We were made very welcome and the decor and ambience were beautiful and relaxing. The menu was quite limited but everything we tasted was delicious and fresh! We chose the sharing platter starter, the fish curry and a spicy chicken curry with rice and a delicious bread! It wasn’t a naan or chapati but a slightly crispy unusual bread. Everything from start to finish was perfect and I have not been able to sat this about any other establishment in Wilmslow.

My wife and I arrived in Wilmslow to look around the Artisan Market, after which, we had a walk around the rest of the centre of Wilmslow. We just happened to come across Potyo. The menu looked very appealing and so we went in. We were met with a very friendly and professional host, who showed us to our seats and after giving us menus, explained what dishes were and answered our questions. The Chicken Platter that I had was very good value and delicious. I had had chapatis rather than rice. It was such a delight to receive beautifully cooked food that was hot and arrived on a hot plate to keep the food hot. Well done chef and all staff My only complaint is that we don't live in Wilmslow! Totally recommend Potyo and we WILL be back!! Hope to get to your Goan night in July.

Six of us (three generations) went to Potyo on Monday evening. The atmosphere was no fuss casual, which I liked. We all had different dishes, and when everyone enthused about their food, I knew I had been somewhere special. Wilmslow has been lacking in quality eateries for some time; now it has one. Use it - you will not be disappointed.

Delicious food in a beautiful setting, a real gem of a restaurant! Each time we've been the food has been fantastic with tasty flavour combinations and presented well. It's also really nice experiencing south indian cuisine rather than the usual offerings at most other Indian restaurants. The monthly regional tasting menu evenings are a must-try and the service was super friendly and attentive. Highly recommended and will be a regular here for sure!

What a lovely dining experience we had at Potyo on Saturday evening. We booked the smallest private dining area they had for 8 of us and it was perfect. The staff were so friendly and helpful when I arrived with balloons and a cake, helping me to set the room up. We were helped and guided with the menu ... it all sounded absolutely delicious so it was difficult to choose. The starting sharing platters were really tasty and were thoroughly enjoyed by us all. We all had various main dishes; roasted fish wrapped in banana leaf, slow braised lamb, manglorian chicken curry, creamy butter chicken, roasted chicken cafreal which is marinated for 36 hours, lemon rice, coconut rice, spicy green beans and carrots .. and various breads. The food was stunning, so tasty and a lot lighter than curries I've had before. There was a good all-round drinks menu of wine, spirits, non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails. I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant too ... there was such a lovely relaxed vibe. The service was truly excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning very soon! Can highly recommend this restaurant ... it's definitely our favourite in Wilmslow and the surrounding area.

We were looking forward to a new Indian in Wilmslow as existing choices are poor. Now, I'll preface by saying that I'm a bit of a connoisseur of Indian food because my mother is an amazing cook. We had a takeaway which included Lamb Xacuti, Butter Chicken, Crispy Okra and Gunpowder Fries. The best thing was the Crispy Okra but it was a miniscule amount for £5.50. The Gunpowder Fries were truly awful. Dry with no flavour whatsoever. Mcdonalds Fries are better! The curries were watery and lacking flavour and meagre - 4 bits of lamb and 5 small pieces of chicken. Very disappointing and we wont be ordering again unfortunately.

From the moment we arrived at this restaurant we knew it was going to be a great evening. The ambiance is warm and relaxing and the welcome was extremely friendly. The menu, whilst not huge, gave us so many options and tastes. My advice would be to order different starters and main course to give you the perfect tastes the restaurant offer. Despite having eaten Indian food for many years these tastes were new and amazing. I cannot fail to mention Alfie who was very helpful and reflected the restaurant with his excellent service. The owner came to talk to us and explained many of the dishes from their ingredients to conception. The food, as many Indian restaurants do, showed no signs of ghee. The owner explained the healthy benefits of the way our food was prepared. We will definitely be visiting again and would encourage others to do so knowing they will equally be enjoying a great meal.
