It goes in English, but it could be in any other idiom: this place is universal. "Caldeirada" is a stew of fish, any fish (actually, in some places of the hinterland it even can be made with kid or lamb, also delicious). In Aveiro region,...close to the sea and to the best fish it's a traditional dish. Eels are the fish Zezé cooks at his place, fried (simple or with escabeche sauce) and in "caldeirada", both exceptionally tasty, a pure delight. Zezé doesn't follow the traditional recipe, which only uses saffron and ginger powder; instead he adds a touch of fresh tomato. The final result is nothing but divine. For people looking for table presentation and and fusion experiences, is a place definitely to avoid: paper towels and strong honest traditional real tastes are what they can find. When real food is becoming a rare, exotic thing and "normality" has associated a name preceded by a strange foreign word, "chef", it's paradise to find natural tastes which honour the palate. It's the case. The day Zeze becomes "chef" and opts for offering fabric tablecloths and something tasting "eel", I'll stop visiting the restaurant. Wine? If one accepts home's choice, a chilled and indeed decent Douro, he or she will feel happy. Otherwise, other good choices exist. Desserts? Traditional with a touch of innovation. We had lime mousse and soft of coconut, both very pleasant and light. Bread and olives? Very good. Price: Absolutely decent. Obscenely cheap by euro patterns. Note: I paid my bill.More
