Had a great time and a wonderful meal. Brandy did a great job with multiple trips to the kitchen to make sure my gluten-free spouse knew her options! My wife settled on tavern style crab soup and the scallops but had plenty of other choices for our next visit. I enjoyed the rockfish tacos and barely saved room for their... More

This is definitely a place to try if you are in the area. We hadn't planned on eating here but glad we did! The dinning area was booked but we were able to go in the "bar area" were they have a few tables that will seat 2. Service was very attentive, friendly. Food was amazing! My husband had fresh... If you are in the Northern Neck of Virginia this restaurant is not to be missed. This rural lodge and tavern offers a dining experience in a cozy, quiet, romantic setting. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the steaks coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful. Do not forget the bread pudding for dessert. Sit back, relax,... More

What a beautiful place. We stopped for lunch and the house was like stepping back in colonial days. I had the shrimp n grits for my entree which was one of the best shrimp n grits dishes I have eaten. My wife had a salad with fried oysters. She really enjoyed it. The best dish we had was the oyster... More

Sometimes this is a wonderful charming restaurant with great meals ranging from seafood to prime rib. However, about 10% of the time the meal just is not up to snuff, such as asking for medium rare and getting well done. Not sure what the issue is but they also seem to have a revolving door of chefs, that implies management... More

one of my favorite places to eat. Seafood is breaded in house and lightly fried. Lunch spot for womans groups and professionals.

Went for lunch, had not been in years. Bisque was delicious as recommend by our server. The pork quesadilla was so tasty!

Great atmosphere for our 43rd anniversary celebration. My wife ordered the crab cakes that were delicious and I ordered the ribeye steak medium rare that was cooked medium and dry. I probably should have ordered the salmon special for the evening. We heard it is a great place for lunch and may come back with some friends.

Full disclosure, my partner and I are building a house about a mile away from this restaurant, and it's a great option to order and bring back food to sit by the river and enjoy on a nice evening. We started eating lunch here - the sandwiches are consistently good. I wasn't expecting much from the dinner menu, but the... More

The end of July, I had the pleasure of having lunch with some friends at the Historic Lancaster Tavern. The place is charming and filled with history. The food was outstanding. We all had one of their delicious salads. Two of the salads were topped with salmon and one with shrimp. I'm not sure what the glaze was on the... More
