Never been before and found it to be inviting and very “Vermont” atmosphere. Our waiter was pleasant and had a fantastic sense of humor and quick wit. Nachos left something to be desired but really, nachos always sound awesome but hardly ever are no matter...where you go. I know my salad was simple but my goodness was not NOT simple! SO good! You know when you get that perfect bite and can’t help but do a little happy dance? You know what I mean ;) it was THAT good! I may be drooling thinking about it. My husbands burger was cooked perfectly and the homemade English muffin it was on was awesome. Overall nice night and we will be backMore

Big Jay is a classic Apres Ski type experience. Nothing fancy for sure but festive, high energy, ok menu and good food.

We had a fine time at dinner at the big Jay Tavern. However we arrived at 5:45 and were told 30 minutes with our name first on the wait list. 75 minutes later we were seated. There were other people seated before us. The menu,...ski ambiance and bar are great. The duck and trout were worth the wait but they turned away at least 20 people around 6:30 when they said it was 90 minute wait even though there were open tables. With all that said we will return!!More

Unusually good Japanese and Asian fusion food with a nice gathering of local bar guests. The location is along a bubbling brook with lots of parking on the other side of a covered bridge. Should be a great place to dine in the summer too.

Went out for music and a beer on Saturday night with a group of ski friends. Band was great. Place was fun. Went back for food Sunday night and pleasantly surprised by the food and menu. It was not bar food at all. Staff was...gracious. Recommend going there on your ski tripMore

Some local skiers recommended this place, we looked it up online and saw a very unique menu. We tried it and we were not disappointed! Peking duck lettuce wraps were super! My husband raved over his ahi tuna. We actually can’t wait to go back!!

Big Jay Tavern was the first place I ate when visiting Jay/Montgomery. Chris the bartender is super nice and when I told him I was thinking of moving to town, he made me feel right at home and encouraged me to do it. Nelson makes...excellent food. You can watch “the game” on tv and chat with local skiers/snowboarders. Great spotMore

Went here for a bite to eat after a long day of skiing. Figured it would be bar food but it was so much more. They did have a fantastic Jay burger on the most delicious bun with Fantastic onion rings. But they also had...a lot of unexpected and different items such as an Ahi burger which my husband loved. They had a shrimp dumpling app that was fantastic and the only item they had for dessert was a homemade warm chocolate cake in a cup w homemade whipped cream which was topped with coconut. Would recommend it to anyone and hope to go back before the end of our trip.More

Came here to eat and watch the Pats game after a day of skiing at Jay Peak. Setup was great for that as there are long tables and a bar area with view of TVs, plus small tables by the windows for those not watching....The game went into overtime so we stayed a long time and ordered a lot of food. The menu is not long but has interesting Asian-influenced options, including a take on sausage poutine that was quite tasty. Server, staff and other patrons were all friendly. Will come back again when in the area.More

We ate here during our recent visit to Jay Peak and were pleasantly surprised to find Asian fusion food (expecting traditional pub). We liked it so much we went back, both nights it was packed but we got a table (for 5) within 15 min...both times. The food was a bit hit or miss. They had appetizer fries covered with sausage, cheese curds, with an Asian flare that were to die for (and very filling). However, the dumplings which were supposed to be pan seared, appeared to have been boiled. The tuna burger was cooked perfectly and the salmon pizza was great. They had a nice selection of beers and my husband found the red wine (house) very good. They had a nice appetizer selection. On Friday night they had live entertainment. Atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a VT tavern!More

For quite a while, Big Jay Tavern was our go to place on Monday nights because they had 50 cent wings, and the wings were great -crispy, not soggy. Unfortunately, for the first time Big Jay Tavern is not open this summer, and we are...disappointed.More

The Tavern is absolutely perfect! Super charming with wood and glass windows that give you stunning views of the river creek and surrounding mountains. They have a nice combination of low and tall wooden tables that makes the Tavern super cozy and you have the...feeling that you are in the countryside. Not only they have a fantastic place with plenty of parking, they also have the best food and service in the area. We loved the food and absolutely all 7 plates from my group were made to perfection! I had the lobster stuffed sole and it was the best prepared sole I ever ate! My husband and my children (who are not so easy to please) were also amazed by the food and ate all of it! My friends also loved it. Even the onion rings were perfect! We normally don't eat fried foods, but this was really light, crispy and delicious! The man who received us was super pleasant (perhaps the owner), and the service was perfect! The price is amazingly cheap for what they offer! Drinks were perfectly done and they had plenty of choices for drinks. This place is a bit outside the Jay peak Resort but totally worth the 5 min drive! Amazing! And the people who said this place was not for kids? OMG, we had a baby and 2 kids and it was really the best service ever!More

Enjoyed a casual dinner at big jay tavern with my family after skiing. Warm and cozy environment. Great food. Both the chicken and the soul were a little saucy but nice after a cold day skiing. I felt bad for the solo waitress but she...definitely got the job done. Would definitely returnMore

mind- boggling that anybody can review this place as excellent...maybe few beers can affect reviewers mind..haha we were so disappointed with the dinner served in Jay Peak (tramside) 'Alice's place'....that after 10 minutes of driving away from the mountain we have spotted this place, and...decided to fix our appetite WRONG CHOICE Ordered food.. and waited... and waited.. and waited some more.. then finally my pizza has arrived.. ( recommended by a wait stuff as a good choice ..ha) it must have been their specialty called "charcoal" pizza :-( I have never been served with worse pizza ever....what a disappointment to see them serving me this burnt pizza.. yes..anybody ,I guess can burn a pizza, but to bring that pizza to a customer shows how little this establishment cares about the people who pay their bills!!!! We were not impressed with their lamb souvlaki or chicken wrap either. The only thing we, as a group, agreed upon to be worth of presentation was their beef patty used in served burgers.. NOT the burger plate, just the beef patty and ground beef flavor. The fries served with the burger were old, fried most probably in old oil, based on the taste...and thus left untouched on the plate... No sauteed mushrooms, no grilled peppers to decorate the burger meal plates.. no imagination mind -boggling, how anybody can review this place as excellent... unless the beer is so good....well, one has to try really hard to spoil a beer..right.. For my review to be truthful as it can be , I admit, we were offered to order a meal covered by the establishment. ( so thanks for the extra beef patty) Did I mention that the coffee ordered here was tasteless too? So, now I wonder, maybe they can spoil the beer too..here Sorry, but based on what was served to us in this place, my review cannot sound any better :-(More

Chose Big Jay after reading reviews and it seemed like a good option. Very bar/pub setting but not bad for kids. Food options were good and service was friendly. Biggest issue I had was my daughters burger was brought out very late, after some of...us had already finishes our meals. An apology was offered, but just that. I would have expected it to be comped or at least a dessert. Not a bad option if you want to get out off the resort.More
