This place wasn't bad, but it was operationally designed in a very peculiar fashion. It is a country store with a deli located in the back right side. They have coolers with beverages and beer along the rear. You go to the deli to order...your food, they give you your invoice, and then you have to go pay for both your food and beverages up front at the cashier (while you wait for them to cook your food). If you want to buy beer or wine, they tell you that you can't drink it in their store as they last their liquor license. I guess because it's Vermont, it's kind of an honor system as I don't know how they know if you paid for your food and beverages or not because they just give you your food when you come back. Being the Eagle Scout that I am, they didn't have to worry, but I just as an operation manager I found their setup very dysfunctional. My wife and I shared their Reuben sandwich which was actually very good. It was huge and only cost $6.99, a very good deal. We took it outside to eat it, which unfortunately probably meant I could've gotten my beer to enjoy as well.More

A winner around if you like prime rib. A win-win cash only recommended feast, a great deal. Have a look at my photos please, and get on over. Q-Trip: We have done Wing Night on Thursday, now prime rib and Friday. Q-Trip: Lots of eye...distraction for little people. We brought our high chair. Q-Trip: In the Wing Commander world wide foodie experience ... this is a local favourite. Q-Trip: This is NOT fast food so have a glass and relax, have a look through the General Store.More

Q-Trip: Fat yummy wings cooked to perfection. Wednesday and Thursday super special. Q-Trip: Friends give the prime rib nights Friday and Saturday brilliant grades. We’ll be back. Q-Trip: Cash only. Thank you Courtney our gracious and helpful server. Q-Trip: We have gone to The Belfry...for 30 plus years. And others going all the way back to Zak’s. This a a nice find. Q-Trip: The nice spot calls itself Base Camp. Trip Advisor has the listing as a Deli (?) at Jay Country Store. Confusing.More

We stayed twice (two different times) at the Jay Village Inn across the street, but found our way to the Jay Country Store for their amazing coffee and fare for breakfast then lunch/dinner. The price was AT LEAST half of what it was at the...Inn. I ordered a REUBEN SW, one of my favorites but could only finish half. (Took it home retoasted the bread and finished it two days later). Another day for breakfast, I also had ordered the wrap with the spinach tortilla - EXCELLENT. We order the food and then head for the dining area a split level steps down - quiet, and the chef brings us our food. Again, the food is made to order right there - you order and you can see who is preparing it. They also have Ben & Jerry's ice cream selection and some Breyers as well. The store also includes clothing, souvenirs, wine and beer at the main level and hard liquor at the lower level. It's quite an extensive store. I found their amazing Maple french roast coffee to take home. (Forgot to grind the beans.)More

An excellent place for superb sandwiches or to stock up on cold cuts, a large variety of cheeses, maple products and many other locally sourced delicacies.

What a wonderful store close to Jay Peak : nice staff, delight food and very original t-shirts. A very small jewel in the middle of nowhere for a french family familiar to the speed of french cities. Thank you to everybody for your warm welcoming.

Stopped by while supporting a Long Trail hiker on his final leg - wanted something to eat I was staying at the resort but nothing grabbed me and then I drove by here - delicious everything we had was excellent but the mushroom soup was...to die for. Nice clean place - positive people and clearly pride in what they create - from scratch - must stop goodies galore.More

By far getting a sub from here was the best deal of any restaurant on mountain. The guy working to make them was the friendliest person I think know I've ever met as well. If you're Hungary, skip the other places and go here.

This store is a great little surprise. Most of the time these stores have little items and high prices. The store was reasonable and we'll stocked. Had a deli with a good choice of items. A little walk if you stay at the Stateside, but...has a shuttle to the main hotel and the main eating places. Just the little-known treat.More
