Enjoyed a wonderful Presidents Day weekend here. Doug and Shelley are the consummate hosts! The inn is lovingly maintained and decorated. Doug enthusiastically shares the history of the place and Shelley seems to manage the food and drink which was beautifully presented in generous portions. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. The location is within walking distance of... More

Doug and Shelley the inn's owners cannot do enough for you ! The breakfasts are the best almost 3 courses! Very close to Middlebury and not too much of a ride for the shel bourse museum. The best restaurant in town is the Provance! Very nice. The rooms are very spacious and very clean and neat. You can bring your... More

Absolutely beautiful grounds; amazingly friendly innkeepers who bent over backwards to make us feel welcomed. Great wine list, all meals were delicious, gracious staff! We LOVED ending 2 days of long bike rides on the outdoor patio, feet up, enjoying the wood fire! Highly recommended!

I have not stayed at the lilac inn because I live here in town. I have been all over their inn, been given a tour, discussed wedding venues with them and know them a little socially. I recommend them unreservedly becasue of everything I've seen and the interactions I ve had with them. They are kind. This past year a... More

We spent the last night of an Inn to Inn bike trip here. We had a delicious dinner with homemade blueberry pie. A wonderful breakfast that included homemade scones. Then Doug mapped out a route back to the airport that included a stop at a Robert Frost hiking trail and Texas falls hiking trail. Wonderful personalized service!

The Lilac Inn is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for an authentic historic Inn in a small town in Vermont. The antique furnishings are very nice. Original clawfoot bathtub, including a shower option if you don't want to soak in the tub. The Innkeepers, Doug and Shelley are the best. Doug planned a full day itinerary... More

We stayed here as we started our bike trip "Inn to Inn." It is a gorgeous restored old mansion ("summer home"), with beautiful grounds and landscaping, a great porch, and plenty of places to sit and gather. they look well-equipped to host weddings and gatherings, including a ballroom. The hosts were very pleasant, and the food excellent. They have a... More
