Whenever I travel to somewhere in Texas, i ask locals where i can get good BBQ. Since it is such a staple out here, i like to try different places to compare. Coopers ranks up as one of my favorite spots. The place is setup like the classic Texas BBQ joints, where you pick your meat and it is weighed,... More

coopers is my favorite bbq place in new braunfels. not cheap but worth the money.we took a friend from germany there last saturday and he was overwhelmed by the choices of meat, which is being sold by weight. my personal favorite are the beef ribs. their brisket, pork ribs, sausage are also excellent. the side dishes are pretty tasty. i... We stopped there to sample their product. Was met by a friendly and joking staff. The brisket was excellent. I would rate it amount the best I have had n Texas. Smoked just right and tender with only a small amount of fat left on the meat.

While being right off the interstate with indoor and outdoor seating, the attraction is obvious. I believe there are other options that will suite the taste of the more seasoned traveler better. However if a quick bite and willingness to forgive a staff that seems always a bit in the harsh side it will get you by without much complaining... More

Beef ribs were fatty and $$, but very large (costly). Husband enjoyed the most tender brisket. The pecan cobbler is so rich...brought it home to eat later. Hands down, best sweet tea I have ever had! And like most of Texas, extremely polite and helpful staff!

My dad used to say, "If ya haven't got something good to say about something, don't say it." I don't think that applies to BBQ joints. And even then, I gave this place a middling grade because the meats were moist and somewhat tasty. However... Everything from the sauce to the sides was grossly over salted. What's more, the sauce... You know you are in Texas from the moment you walk in. An enormous grill is your hostess enticing you to overindulge on the biggest ribs you've ever seen, brisket and sausage. Beans are complimentary. Forget the plates! Eat on butcher paper. Enjoy jalepeños from the gallon jar on your table. You definitely won't forget this meal!

We enjoyed the BBQ. Our eyes were bigger then our stomachs. We love the sweet tea! Unfortunately there are many places that can't get it right but Cooper's did.

As we walked in the door the cook sized us up and asked "first time?" We nodded and then up and down the line the call went out that "newbies" were coming through and everyone was very helpful. The place is a large corrugated steel building with picnic tables and paper sheets for plates. We tried a number of meats.... More
