We stopped here for a little breakfast on our way to Midland. We were with sister and brother-in-law. They had eaten here before and wanted to share with us. It seemed to be kinda if a family operation. Got waited on a little slow but she greeted us with a smile and things picked up after that. Breakfast was delicious... More

Stopped for breakfast. It was great. Omelets were fantastic. Debbie was our waitress. She was great. We were on a strict diet she was very helpful. Worth the stop.

First time visiting just on our way through and it looked like a neat place to have lunch. We loved it!! Great prices and friendly service. Also very cool history of the smokestack and the brick company there. Definitely recommend for anyone to stop in! Would love to eat here again if we go through Thurber again anytime :)

Great environment in an 1800s era Mercantile building. Wonderful. Photos up around the restaurant and what appears to be the original ceiling. Food was very good. Good service. Chicken fried steak in particular was excellent

The only thing I liked there was the sweet tea. My wife ordered the chicken fried chicken, and it was a small portion. My son ordered a burger, and the homemade bun was not baked all the way (gooey dough). I ordered a 6 oz. sirloin, medium well. Steak arrived at our table bleeding on the plate(Very rare). The waitress... More

This place is not only pack full of history and fun facts about a once booming town, it has food that will have you coming back every chance you get. Excellent soul food with daily specials and yummy desserts. We eat here every chance we get

What a wonderful stop ! The food was excellent as were the portions. The menu offered a great variety of choices. It was quite laid back but the servers were very friendly. Do not blink or you will miss it!

Anytime we travel in the area, we try to stop here and eat. Interesting atmosphere, history and charm. Great food and good service. At lunch it can be crowded so try to avoid right at noon time but if you are not in a big hurry then no problem. The specials are usually the best deal. We had chicken fried... More

Me and my friends swing in very often for dinners during hunting season since it the closest restaurant, but i recently drove my wife out all the way from Fort Worth just for dinner. Helpings are always massive and food is always delicious. Prices are average. Service is normally quick and friendly. Great atmosphere, especially for history buffs. I would... More

Chicken fried steak was ok but not great. Service was poor. Portions are generous. Sign out front says just RESTAURANT, not Smokestack. No wonder the reviews comment on difficulty finding the place.
