Went in to watch football just after arriving. Owner insisted buying us a pint as this was the start of our honeymoon. Went back the following day for a steak sandwich and a roast dinner. Which were very good. Ate other places for the rest of the week and found them to be quite poor, so returned to the palm... More

Me and my fiancé went to Salou for the 1st time and had an amazing time. We went in to The Palm Tree as it was quite close to where we were staying. Oz (the owner/manager) was so friendly! He told us all the best places to go in Salou and would go out of his way to do anything... More

An excellent bar/restaurant on a quiet street (is this possible in Salou?) not far, but far enough, from the awful centre. Oz was a very nice and friendly camarero in the evening and served us some good beer and great food from an extensive menu. His lunchtime camarera was also welcoming and the English breakfast was really good. Much recommended!

Addressed to "Megan24748"

We have literally been sat waiting for a review of this nature to appear. As it seems for many years in this small tourist town of Salou there has been an uninterrupted status quo in the Tripadvisor rankings system. We opened our small family run bar last March and have a few times topped the league table. Yet it seems to immediately evoke self righteous mystery reviewers who are compelled to say who should be ranked where. We have been number one for three days and still have the back log of checks which are kept on record for a week. We do not have a record of these three items going together on one check so that makes me extremely suspicious as to the validity of the review. The content suggests that our Scampi is frozen which is mentioned on a genuine 3 star review by an actual dissatisfied customer. This has happened before and it is the same pattern. The mystery reviewer gives us one star and a concocted false account of a meal that was never served and a glowing five star review for a neighbouring bar claiming they deserve to be number one. This is becoming ridiculous and pitiful. As anyone can see I respond to every review we receive good or bad with an element of personalisation as we are only a small place I remember pretty much every table and who they are when they have reviewed. Also as the review mentions that it was a waiter who served them and not a waitress therefore it would have only been myself to put the food down as I am the only male waiter and I certainly do not remember serving this food in the last week which is when "Megan" claims to have visited because we were number one. Also she claims to have been coming to Salou since she was a little girl in her other reviews and is friends with and knows the other bars so why would she need to consult Tripadvisor to know where to go? Surely she would already know? Also after so many proclaimed visits it is a little convenient she would sign up to the website this week to state her opinions. This simply did not happen and it is extremely obvious that it is concocted nonsense with an agenda to effect the rankings system.

If somebody that comes through my doors has had a bad meal or received poor service I will apologise and attempt to rectify the issues. In this case I would like the review not only removed but I am doing everything in my power to have this investigated to see where the I.P address is registered and I would like to know who these charlatans are so we can finally put an end to these discredulous attempts to poison the livelihood of our small family business.

Whatever the agenda of the individual or group it certainly does no favours to other mentioned bars as if they were truly friends I have no doubt other said bars would simply embrace a complementary review of what was a genuine experience however surely not at the expense of defamating another restaurant. If I was in the other position no doubt I would be embarrassed and unappreciative of such complements when others are being criticised.

Whatever the reasons behind it all what I can confirm is this is complete bollocks. We at The Palm Tree have a very amicable relationship with other surrounding restaurants. We have no animosity towards anyone else. We do our own thing in our own way as any genuine customer can clearly witness.
