We booked for seafood night (they also do steak nights) and shared a generous platter for two at a very reasonable price. The Pantry has the ambience of a café rather than a restaurant but the food and the service make it stand out. Nice to have a choice between this and the Colonsay Hotel (also very good) for a meal out.

The Pantry is a Colonsay institution that has gone to great lengths to meet and exceed COVID guidelines and continue to offer excellent hospitality in a unique setting.
Lunch today in a comfortable protective “tent” that kept us from the drizzle but allowed an uninterrupted view of the neighbouring islands.
Great food and coffee’s wonderful cakes - all in a safe and comfortable setting. Great stuff and highly recommended.

Fabulous seafood dinner at the pantry. With so much shut it was lovely to find the Pantry not only open but turning out fresh and delicious local seafood. For £38, two of us stuffed ourselves with giant oysters and langostines, crab, mussels (in the shell and smoked), scallops, smoked trout (or salmon, not sure but gorgeous) and little white fish bites. It was so good and so reasonably priced and all done with attentive friendliness and conscientious Covid compliance. It was fab. Gavin and his staff were great and the food superb.

My partner and I were on holiday here in Colonsay and as there are only two places to eat out on the island, we wanted check out the pantry.
We arrived at 2.20pm and were given a table outside that was disinfected. We sat and looked at the menu and waited for our order to be taken.
Over 20 minutes has passed, nobody had come to the table to take our order. So being patient, I thought I’d order using the app suggested, Hopt. I placed our order and was told by the app it would be ready by 2.50pm.
We waited, and waited whilst other people were being served, new customers arrived, were being served, had eaten and even then left before we saw our meal.
My partner had to go inside to enquire as to where our order was, to which the reply was ‘that it had been done for a while’ and something about running out of paper.
Out came two cold toasties, a limp and lifeless salad with a pot filled with scraps of potatoes meant to be chips. To top it off, a chocolate milkshake which was out of a carton and a rather mumbled and poor apology.
A very expensive lunch, and an incredibly disappointing and annoying experience added to our holiday.

We visited Colonsay for a week very soon after cafes and restaurants opened and agree totally with the previous review from The Boatman. We booked evening meals for 3 nights and we weren't disappointed. The food is locally sourced and very tasty. Gavin couldn't have done more to make us welcome and make our evenings so enjoyable, despite one night when windy and wet weather did not alter their excellent service.
Thank you so much. We have booked for next year and can't wait to return to the pantry.

After being stuck a little longer than planned on Colonsay due to ferries we were delighted that Gavin opened one evening just to feed our large family including children. It was JUST what we needed after slightly running low on food. We were all very well fed and the the room had been made up to look really welcoming and fun for the children. Gavin catered for our dietary requirements too which was wonderful. Thanks so much, we can't wait to be back and come and try more!

We ate six meals at the Colonsay Pantry over a four day holiday on the island. Gavin and his team looked after us really well. The fresh, local food was excellent and the menu changed daily. Dylan served us with attentive ease and wit, nothing was too much trouble. We all are keen to return to Colonsay for its beautiful beaches, walks and for Gavin’s Balnahard beef, haggis bites and of course, his seafood platter. We had the best time. 5*****

We had sandwiches and cake from The Pantry every day while staying on Colonsay, they where always lovely and great value. We also went one evening for a meal which was excellent and also great value. Staff all very friendly and helpful, will definitely be back next time we are back on Colonsay.

We had two lunches at the Pantry during our time on Colonsay. The cafe was very busy on our first visit but the service was still prompt.
The food we had for lunch was simple but tasty, sandwiches and soups. Unfortunately, we were not organised enough to book in for Seafood Night.
The Pantry also sells a range of food products and Colonsay souvenir items e.g. aprons, tea towels, so you can pick up a unique souvenir from your time on Colonsay.

Visited as a large group, had pre-booked and ordered in advance. The group ordered a number of items off the menu, all of which were delicious and it all came out in a timely manner. One of our group accidentally knocked over their drink just after receiving it, and the team very kindly replaced it for them.
Would recommend, and will definitely visit next time we visit Colonsay.

Great food and very friendly service right next Colonsay harbour. We went for seafood night which I highly recommend - you do need to book. Amazing seafood platter, but also great fish and plenty of options for those who dont like seafood, They also seem to have menus for coffees, snacks, lunches etc and dinners on most nights - a great facility on this small island.

Amazing food, the sea food platter was so good. Staff are very friendly. The whole place was very clean. They where very good at making small portion for my three-year-old daughter And pensioners potion for my dad with out any fuss. Highly recommend this for a morning snack or an evening meal any time of the day (when open)it’s worth a visit.

Only open odd days and need to book at night. Missed sea food night as only there 3 days. Good menu and food was freshly cooked and excellent. My trio of fish was tasty bu too much. Thankfully they boxed up the salmon and it fed us for lunch the next day. Reasonable prices. Also went for coffee and cakes twice, which were good but too much thick sugar icing on tray bakes for our liking and not keen on the Colonsay crunch. Honey ice cream is nice and good salad. View out is mainly of a car park.

My husband & I have had several lunches & dinners here. There is outdoor seating for warm, sunny days & a lovely restaurant with huge windows looking towards the sea. The food is great. We’ve tried the soups, baked potatoes, sandwiches & baking at lunch. At dinner we’ve had the fish & chips, sea bream, trout, scallops, the burger, the chicken dish & the vegetarian pasta. Every meal has been excellent- and the local honey ice cream is homemade & a real treat. The staff are all locals & the owner Gavin is lovely. The homemade empire biscuits are the best I’ve ever had! This seems to be the heart of the island, it’s where you find good food at decent prices & the locals seems to hang out there too. It’s brilliant to support a local family business when travelling to an island. Would 100% recommend.
