I have been to Smitty's three times over the past couple of years. The two more recent visits were good but not great. Smitty's looks most like the idea barbecue place with how the two pits are arranged where you order. The staff is always nice. Unfortunately, the last time I was there, the brisket was dry and tough. I... More

My favorite Q in Texas. Get 2 kinds of sausage, pork ribs, and wet brisket. They do have plastic knife, no forks and no plates as it is served on red BBQ paper as it should be. You should be carrying your own pocket knife in Texas anyway for BQQ. Cash only, but there is ATM. They do have a... More

This was the 2nd stop on our BBQ Crawl on Lockhart. We got a little of everything. The best thing there was a big surprise for me. The Turkey was awesome. Brisket was a little overdone but still good. Everything was good.

So you can get a slice of prime rib. You won't regret it.mouth watering tender prime rib is so good they usually run out by 12:30. Pork ribs are a must along with "end sliced" pork chop so you can enjoy the great smiley flavor of the seasoning.

4 stop BBQ tour and this was the last of the trip. Smittys wins for coolest atmosphere. You order at the pit. How cool is that? The server was kinda pissy though which made me feel rushed so didn't have a whole lot of time to soak it in. They were out of a few things, ordered shoulder and sausage.... More

Had the brisket and the jalapeño sausage. I was not a big fan it was ok. We asked did wet fat brisket and it was dry. Just not enough flavor. As for the sausage, it was to lose. So it's ok but for me not great.

Drove here from Austin on the recommendation of an long time Austin resident and he wasn't wrong this is about as authentic as it gets. Step into the actual smokehouse at the back, pick up your sausage, brisket, ribs smacked down on brown grease proof paper and accompanied by crackers or bread, then escape the heat in the main room... We stopped by Smitty's Market for lunch for our first taste of brisket in Texas. There wasn't much of a wait. It was interesting that you ordered right where they do the smoking. You definitely will leave smelling like you just smoked brisket yourself - so keep that in mind. We ordered brisket, ribs and regular sausage - about a... More

Dingy is an apt description for this BBQ joint. We walked in and at first wondered if they had had a fire in the anteroom. Nope, that's just the discoloration from josh-knows-how-much smoke. You go down this long hallway to the pit area, there are 4 brick/block pits feeding into a single chimney so the draw across the fire at... More
