There is a sign explaining they are short staffed so we went in knowing that… we waited only about ten minutes for a table. Service was great snd friendly! Breakfast was so yummy!

Management you need to fix your kitchen situation or what business you have built over the years was for nothing. Your reviews were awful so not headed your way now since we planned our trip months ago with a bunch of couples.

I would put zero stars if I could. Worst experience I’ve ever had, ever. My family members and I drove four hours today to see the cafe due to it previously being in the movie “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” We were originally supposed to come with...our college school psychology group but due to Covid we couldn’t go, so my family members and I drove four hours because we already took the day off of work so why not go? Well, we got there and were greeted nicely and told we could look around the house so we did. We got there at 2, so the waitress said that it was appetizer time and lunch was over, which we were disappointed because we had waited all day just to get to the cafe to eat lunch not appetizers but we said oh well let’s just eat a little something and eat at the gas station from the Texas chainsaw massacre movie after. We asked if we could sit anywhere or how it worked, and if we could sit outside or in another area than the bar, the waitress said no that the only table she had was in the corner and we can’t sit outside because it’s windy and there’s leaves blowing. So we just sat down at the table in the corner. We then ordered water for three people and one sweet tea, the waitress said she only had unsweet so with sugar on the table we said that’s fine. We also ordered one order of mozzarella sticks, that’s when the waitress started to be rude to us due to that being the only thing we ordered. We disregarded it and waited for our drinks and food. She brought the mozzarella sticks out and they were soggy and limp so we were immediately disappointed. She asked if we were ready for the check, after never checking on us or re filling our drinks, we said yes. My sister paid the bill due to her being the one ordering the mozzarella sticks, she is also the one that got a tea. The waitress took the tea off the check, only leaving her to pay for the mozzarella sticks, apparently my sister didn’t tip her (but we honestly didn’t think she deserved it for being rude and dismissive the whole time and the food was not great.) We left, I wasn’t aware that my sister didn’t tip her. We’re leaving in our car and the waitress named “Jessica M” stepped in front of my car while it was moving so I assumed with her coming to my window after that we dropped something. She then bent down after I rolled my window down and asked what was wrong, us being confused said nothing was wrong? Was she upset for us not staying long? We were confused why she was asking that. She then said “well y’all didn’t tip me so I wanted to know what was wrong” I didn’t know my sister didn’t tip her so I told her “well I’m sorry I didn’t know she didn’t tip you, we didn’t even get much and you were rude” She then sat there looking at me confused and angry acting like she was waiting for a tip, she then said “if you’re broke you shouldn’t be going out to eat.” We were about to pay for lunch that day, so then if we had, we would’ve paid more than $6. Its about $10 or so between four people. Therefore we had money. She then talked about how she’s broke and has two kids, well if I do the 10 or 20% people usually tip, she wouldn’t have gotten a lot. Therefore, I don’t appreciate her coming out and flagging me down and getting in my face disrespectfully. I know y’all won’t care that we won’t be coming back, y’all will have other customers but keep in mind that no one will ever come back to your workplace when a psycho employee comes out and asked why she wasn’t tipped. She didn’t deserve one, her tip is don’t come out and talk crazy to customers after being rude to us in the first place.More

Was extremely disappointed. Have eaten here before and was great. No big crowd and waited almost an hour for food. Waitress said there was a large table that needed to be served. Understand large tables but the cook obviously cannot multi task. Food came and...fries were 1/2 of what other plates had. Will not be back for awhile. Other good options nearby.More

We were the only table. We waited 45 minutes for the food and when I asked they gave me attitude and they said they had a small kitchen. Can’t believe it is the #1 rated restaurant in town.

We usually like this place, but a recent visit was disappointing. There were only two other people in the room where we were. We ordered typical breakfast fare--pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. It took at least 45 minutes for the food to arrive. At one point,...I did notice two employees standing just outside the door looking at our table and whispering...and when I saw that, I knew there was a problem. So, IF you have time, it MIGHT be worth the wait. Otherwise, just head to Crazy Gal's or Bracerro.More

Get there early in the morning before the waiting list begins to enjoy a superb breakfast in a peaceful, sunny setting. The rest of the menu looked yummy and it also has a comfortable looking bar.

Don’t waste your time or money. Took forever to get food and wasn’t worth the wait. Ruben sandwich was terrible, they actually pan fried the pastrami! Yuk. The cob salad wasted fresh the cucumber dried out. Ran out of water but couldn’t find a waitress....French fries were inedible cold soggy and limp. Beautiful building horrible food.More

4 went for breakfast, we were told 30 minute wait (no problem) 45 minutes later we were seated. We all ordered the breakfast special which consists of 2 eggs any way, bacon or sausage, and biscuit, pancake, or english muffin. After an hour and 5...minutes watching other parties who had more people and parties that came in after us getting their orders, our waitress advised our order was fixing to come out, we advised we might have to get it to go as we didn't realize it was going to take this long. After 10 minutes our order came out, the eggs were luke warm and rubber, the sausage was thin as a sheet of paper and hard as a rock, it would be great for kids to use as a street hockey puck, the pancake I had taste like it had an extra cup of flour put in it after the batter was mixed, others got a side of gravy to go with their not so warm biscuit and the gravy was luke warm! It's not real hard to cook 8 eggs, get hot biscuits out of a pan, and make sausage eatable. We overheard another party complaining about the wait, they were told it was because of several large parties of people, not real sure what she was talking about as we were there for over 2 and half hours and the largest party besides us 4 was a party of 5. Never Again!!More

Loved it! We came here with a party of thirteen for lunch and were quickly accommodated! The food took time to come out for our large party but it was worth the wait! Definitely get the whiskey shrimp dip, sweet potato fries, and the Bluebonnet...drink!More

That is what I would have said. A good place, but for some reason a lot of staff turnover. If you go on Sunday for breakfast, expect a wait.

We stayed at the Rio Vista Resort which is about 3 minutes away. The Villas have a lake view. We stayed in a 2 bed 2 bath villa that was very clean & like an apartment.
