Loved it! We came here with a party of thirteen for lunch and were quickly accommodated! The food took time to come out for our large party but it was worth the wait! Definitely get the whiskey shrimp dip, sweet potato fries, and the Bluebonnet...drink!More

On a friends' trip, we decided to try this restaurant. It was highly rated but no idea why. We both ordered the New York strip and mine was over 50% pure gristle. Once hacked through to the actual meat part, it was edible. New York...strip are supposed to be primarily lean! My friend's steak was a little better but not by much. The mashed potatoes and green beans were the equivalent of what you would get at Luby's. When the giant pile of gristle was brought to the waiter's attention, I was offered 15% discount. The point wasn't the money, it to get a decent steak and have a good dinner with a friend! Very disappointed. I will not be back.More

I had the Chicken Chardonnay. It was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The side of asparagus was overcooked. The small side salad was perfect! My husband had the Cajun Shrimp Stir-fry. It had an overwhelming taste of vinegar. The side of mash potatoes were flawless but...the green beans were greasy. I would not go back there nor would I recommend anyone else eat their either.More

After reading a few reviews, and searching best restaurants near the Longhorn caverns state park, we decided to check out Grand Central Cafe for breakfast before heading to the Longhorn Caverns state park. Definitely all the reviews were on point. We visited from Dallas with...no high hopes to find good dining options during this trip, and yes, Kingsland has a superb dining option. The house which is now a restaurant is full of history. Part of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed there, making it a treat to just walk around all the rooms to see memorabilia and part of this house's history via photos on its walls. The restaurant itself was very clean, and was following social distancing protocol by keeping diners significantly separate from one another. The food was excellent too. I had omelette which comes with side items, and my wife had pancake. Both plates were huge and quite tasty. I love breakfasts, and consider myself to have a big appetite, but certainly the two of us could have shared either the omelette or pancake plate; that's how big these were, and for a great price. There were many other food items on the menu that I would have loved to try, too. Perhaps next time we visit this part of Texas. The service was very good. The staff was attentive, quite knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. They also kept our coffee cups filled up at all times with tasty, strong coffee, not like the watered down options you get at other cafes. We will definitely be back, and perhaps also try either their lunch or dinner menu some day. Keep up the good work, Grand Central Cafe!More

The Grand Central Cafe is a 'must visit' restaurant when you are in the Hill Country, particularly in or around kingsland. It is our favorite, a mix of fine dining with casual appeal. We have never had a bad meal at Grand Central, but our...favorites are the crab cake appetizer and either the salmonbor New York strip for dinner. They also have an excellent wine list, and an on-site bar which is always fun and lively, including the outdoor patio. If you are a movie buff, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also filmed in this house when it was originally located in Round Rock, TX.More

Due to CV19 called order in and as usual, it was awesome. Maybe a little smaller than usual but still good. We need to support our local friends so they can return to profitability.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. We've been several times and not once have we had any bad service or average food. This is the place to go for a good meal and away from the noise of average life. The price is a little...high but worth it. Go.More

Servings have become a little smaller and that is disappointing. As a "regular", it is easy to see the difference but they still maintain their #1 status. Hopefully they will continue to offer the best in the area and not try to cut corners.

Have been there several times and always been pleased with meal. This time we were very disappointed. There were five of us and we arrived early (5:30pm) and were told there were no tables available for a party of five so they sent us to...the bar. Loud, with some intoxicated obnoxious patrons. Food mediocre at best. We had a broad assortment of entrees and none were impressive. Wait staff very good. As we left through main dining room we were disappointed to see that there were multiple tables available so we don’t know why we were relegated to the bar.More

That is what I would have said. A good place, but for some reason a lot of staff turnover. If you go on Sunday for breakfast, expect a wait.

We stayed at the Rio Vista Resort which is about 3 minutes away. The Villas have a lake view. We stayed in a 2 bed 2 bath villa that was very clean & like an apartment.
