Authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Very small, family restaurant in downtown Houston that has delicious food. Definitely will return next time I'm in Houston.

The food is unequivocally delicious. The small dining room in a sketchy location did not really bother us. The food was fantastic, especially the mofongo, cubed pork (so crispy and yet moist!) and chicken stew. The steak and onions was a bit tough and dry, and the rice and beans a bit bland. First visited this restaurant in 1994-98, carefully and zealously tended by Don Teo and his wife who served the most delicious and freshly made PR home cooking you could taste away from home. I left Houston only to return and visit with my family and the my had the opportunity to taste the same flavor and home made personalized cooking... More
This is a small puertoriccan restaurant near downtown Houston. It only has 5 tables in it, so get ready to get to know your neighbor! Very friendly and the food was very good! It cost us $50 for a family of 4 to eat, but we enjoyed it tremendously!
So after a 5 year absence to Houston, upon my arrival this trip, my first stop was Tex Chick Restaurant. This is postage stamp of a restaurant offering home cooked Puerto Rican food. It is small, 4 tables 4 chairs each. Homey, while you sit you can see your food being made at the kitchen which is right next to... More
This is a small place for Puerto Rican food. MY friend and I ordered different things and both agreed it was good. I would visit again if I don't find anything else close by. Only problem is Parking.
Having visited Puerto Rico may times, I was very happy to have this little place to satisfy my mofongo cravings. Problem is that lately the food is very greasy, leaving me with upset stomach every time I go. Please make better, I need a good mofongo provider nearby!
