Artisans prepared the most delicious and amazing takeout dinner for two of us last night including a bottle of wine! Everything was meticulously prepared and easy to put together for an at-home gourmet meal. We decided that a meal this special deserved sitting at the dining table, so we pulled out the real china and silverware. We started with a Caesar salad with warm French bread and butter, accompanied by a lovely red Bordeaux wine... followed by hearty and tender Beef Bourgogne over buttered fettuccine with French green beans and Brussels sprouts on the side. We finished with bread pudding and whiskey sauce.
Please support this outstanding restaurant, especially during these uncertain times, and take home an amazing meal!

Outstanding flavor and quality in a fun atmosphere. Try their three-course lunch menu. Its also quiet so you can hear the conversation at your table very well! I like to start with the Artisan’s salad, followed by the petite filet with peppercorns (Yumm), and chocolate mousse. All perfectly prepared and just the right portions...save room for a piece of crusty bread with French butter! Chef enjoys food people and knows there is no point to food without people! You’ll love this place. Ask to meet the Chef to enrich your experience! They have extended Houston’s restaurant week menu until Sept 29. Enjoy! Gregory does a great job managing the front of the house and is always welcoming.

We went to Artisan’s for my birthday. The chef, Jacques Fox, is a long time friend. Even back in the 1990’s, I would include myself in any meal he was preparing when he was the Executive Chef at the hotel and restaurant management program at the University of Houston. This was our first indoor restaurant visit during the pandemic, and it was fantastic! We each did the 6-course meal and it was worth every penny (and much more). DELICIOUS! Our server, Karla, was outstanding and followed all the pandemic protocols for restaurants. They had a two-piece band and Jacques even joined in to sing happy birthday to me in French. The perfect birthday evening. Thank you Jacques and Karla.

My wife and I had a reservation for my birthday. Upon arrival the valet stand was in chaos. Cars were lined down the street and I could not even find the attendant. A couple outside the restaurant said they had been waiting for 15 minutes just to get their car. I let wife off so she could go in an advise them that we had arrived but could not valet park. The hostess just told my wife that they only had two valet attendants. There were other customers at the front Aldo very upset and there was no manager to be found. Give the chaos I feared dinner would be as chaotic so we cancelled our reservation. All the hostess said was ok - no sorry for the inconvenience, nothing. Very poorly trying staff. I am assuming their food is good but if guests are already frazzled just getting in they will not appreciate the work of the kitchen. Too bad I was looking forward to trying their food.

Fabulous spot, fist I must say this was a completely random walk in experience. We needed a warm spot to spend an hour before our escape room was ready.
We did not know this was an upscale restaurant when we decided to walk over, and to say the least we were not dressed for the occasion, however the manager was nice enough to accommodate us and seat our party of 5 at the bar even though we were not in dress code.
Now let's talk about our bartender. I believe his name was Mario, he was working 12/5. This man is a true master of his craft. He made my husband the best old fashioned he has ever had and used those delicious brandy soaked black cherries.
We didn't have time to eat and really I was slightly embarrassed by being here and not being dressed as I should, my husband and I enjoy fine dinning all across the country and we are very excited to come back here and experience their menu.
Since it was my birthday weekend we really just want to extend a huge thank you to the staff and management for accommodating us and you have definitely earned our business. Hope to see you all again soon

Going to this place was a horrible experience. The manager does not have a great customer service. He is just plain rude and unpleasant man. The restaurant is lousy. The food is overpriced and not very good (I have traveled to 40 countries and I have tried amazing plates) . I call this food in this unimpressive place just better than average. Service times very slow and the whole vibe was flat. I don't wonder why no many people go to this wannabe high class restaurant. I highly recommend looking for other options ....

The service was great and the location is cute. Maybe a bit too dark above the tables, but definitely cozy.
The food was very average. For starters I had a goat cheese toast with salad, portobello mushrooms and tomatoes. When the portobello and tomato were placed on top of the toast it amazing. The salad was way too salty. For main I had trout, the fish was good but the sides could have had more texture and less salt. For dessert I had the Crème brûlée, it was a very sweet caramel pudding that was flambéed (which is not what a Crème brûlée should be).
If you want an average good restaurant with a nice atmosphere this could be the one. I would however not recommend.

First visit at the recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. The ambiance, service, and food were outstanding. We started with the ravioli, scallops, lobster-cappuccino bisque and the escargot. Delicate and incredibly tasteful; the appetizers set the meal in motion. Our table chose two pistachio crusted Chilean sea bass dishes, one roasted French chicken with lobster and the Fresh Texas Gulf Snapper with crawfish matelote sauce. The pairing with the Bourgogne wine was amazing! The shared urge was to lick our individual plates clean. We wrapped up the event with an assortment of desserts and coffee ☕️. Our server, Walker, was knowledgeable, courteous, and attentive. We’ll be back most definitely.

Dimly lit, the interior od Artisans is cozy. There are tables, booths and a "Chef's table" that overlooks the kitchen. You can order a la carte or select one of three tasting menus, which are composites of items listed on the menu. The wine list, while not extensive, represents well the major French wine producing regions, including a number of superb wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy. A modest list of wines by the glass is also attractive, although we found not all the wines listed were available on our visit. Service is very good and helpful. We started with a lobster bisque, which had to be one of the very best we had ever tasted: clearly the best in Houston. The escargots were "deconstructed", without shells and with an interesting twist of mixing ground almonds with the butter-parsley-garlic sauce. Delightful and surprisingly not heavy. The lamb loin was excellent: perfectly cooked, soft, tender and juicy, it sits on a bed of mashed potatoes, with al dente, delicate green beans and a galette. The veal chop was surprisingly good. I have been disappointed so often in veal chops served around this city that I hesitated to order it. It was a perfect medium rare, yet not dry, but juicy and tender. The brussels sprouts were tasty, crisp, yet tender and juicy and the mushroom risotto was excellent! We shared a slice of Opera torte, which was very good. A 2018 bottle of excellent Burgundy rounded out the evening.

We returned to Artisans to celebrate post-Beryl recovery. The restaurant was about 3/4 full on an early weekday. We got a very nice booth a our server was excellent. Starting with a glass of wine, we were pleased with the selection of French wines by the glass. Our appetizers consisted of a beautifully presented smoked Salmon and a Sea scallop duo. Served along a lobster bisque, the two large scallops were exquisitely prepared, delicate, with favoring that matched the bisque. It was also beautifully presented. The beef tenderloin was grilled to a perfect medium rare: it was a lovely cut, and it was juicy and tender. The Lamb shank was also an excellent choice. It was so tender, it fell off the bone and I didn't need a knife at all. The Opera cake was very nice, although more solid and less delicate than the ones we enjoyed in France.

We had dined at Artisan’s at their old location. Their new spot, where James Coney Island on Westheimer used to be, is a much nicer building. In fact, the new restaurant is lovely.
The food is also very good. One of us enjoyed the Houston Restaurant Week and the other tried the NY strip with Charon sauce and tasty frites. The HRW choice was delicious, with two courses: one, a somewhat different Caesar salad and two, a nice shrimp/fettuccine entree. HRW lunch is only $25 with an option for dessert for only $5.
Parking is valet only.
Give it a try if you enjoy a white table cloth experience with delicious French inspired food.

Such delicious food, which was almost a 5 star experience alone.
Our 2-top table was a bit awkward with the chair side several inches lower than the booth side. Moved out of our station to the counter, but had to keep our original server even though far-away, so very spotty service and the counter server did not even greet us, return our smiles or look us in the eye start to finish.
The food is so good, Michelin quality, quickly and beautifully presented. Watching the chefs and staff from the counter was fascinating. The atmosphere doesn't match, kind of a pub feel. They should dress the place up, use white tablecloths and have servers dress the part, not so casual.

I would have given 4 star review based on the service and quality of food and the atmosphere was disappointing There were a few highlights to our food.like the desserts. I thought the fried/sauted fois gras with a berry compote was great but the escargot was oily, and you had to hunt for them in the sauce…very garlic forward…fine dining to me means white tablecloths, good wine, exceptional service and a high bar for food. The ribeye was well prepared but the tomahawk veal chop did not have any flavor. We tried a lot of the dishes like the house smoked salmon…nice presentation but a slight smoke..I really couldn’t detect it. I would not dine here again.. the dining chairs were so heavy we couldn’t even scoot them..even standing up. The booths looked like they might have been there from an old Shoney’s. Also they fell short on even the plating…sorry but I expected more from this place…

The new Artisans is an expanded and modernized restaurant, with upscale furnishing and decor. Its current location is an improvement over the old place. There is convenient valet parking. Inside, it is clearly nicer, cleaner and with better lighting. Being a French restaurant, we were surprised to here the piped0in music was Motown and Jazz. Not unpleasant, just not French. There are tables and booths, and the latter are quite comfortable. Our server was well-trained , efficient, polite and helpful. The wine list has expanded and its improved. Scallops and Escargots were perfect starters, with the flavors we remembered. For main, we trusted the Chef's selection of Beef, which was absolutely divine: tender, juicy, with a delicate sauce and perfect sides. An Opera cake and Tarte tatin completed the meal, which was otherwise paired with a glass of Sancerre, a glass of Chablis and a bottle of 2015 Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage. A perfect meal, from start to finish!

I was refused service at Artisans restaurant because my companion (An MD) was wearing basketball shorts. Nowhere in the reservation website does it say so. The problem is that they treated us like criminals! They said their business casual policy was in their website, which I did not consult before going. But coming home, I don't see it in their website. Screenshots below. This guy said he could refuse entry to anyone he wanted to in his restaurant.
