Hardly anything on the menu to remind me of Hawaii. I lived there and this was very little on the menu.

I am pleased that they offer a different option from Chinese, Mexican and Vietnamese in the Houston, TX area. Before I went to the Heights location, I wished they had a location more convenient to me (Northwest area: (Willowbrook, Cypresswood, etc. area). No longer. I...want to try Korean but they also overcharge for what they have. At least this place cooks it for you. Another plus: They save time and serve it in a to-go container. I also liked that the background music seemed to be a modern Hawaiian sound. I went to the Heights location. I was disappointed. The food had enough flavor, but it wasn't even as good as going to one of the Chinese food restaurants in the mall food courts and much more expensive: $5.58 for two cans of soda (???). A meal for two with the sodas came to almost $50 including a 10% tip. At least if you order Bourbon Chicken in the mall, you can get some juice over the meat and rice. You could not here: just the little chili sauce packets. I asked. I might have been able to get Teriyaki sauce but that is not the Hawaii I recall on their barbeque. The meat and macaroni salad were dry. In Hawaii, the salad is a lettuce salad not shredded cabbage. I had to hunt for it at that. Online: the menu indicated that the seafood combo would have a fish filet, shrimp and a choice of another protein. It did not. It cost $16 for a piece of filet (of what I don't know) and a few fried shrimp. The bbq mix was better for the price at $17.00. It had a lot of meat and rice but again, dry macaroni salad and no sauce for the rice. I'll believe that maybe one of the other locations might be better but this was the one most convenient to me and that was a 30-minute drive so I will not be going to one of the other locations to determine if they are better at this price. I hope they improve or at the very least lower the price on some of their items. It was too expensive for the quality.More

This was my first visit to this location. I ordered the the BBQ Mix Combo to share and iced tea. The combo came with BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, BBQ short ribs, macaroni salad, and rice but it wasn't big enough to share with another person....The meats were tender and tasty. The mac salad was pretty good and came with one large scoop. The rice was cooked very well and came with two large scoops. The iced tea was not fresh brewed but came out of the fountain. There is a difference and it's not a good one. The service was fast & friendly. The prices are somewhat reasonable. They have plenty of indoor seating. It was so hot that we sat there eating and sweating. It didn't appear the A/C was on or if it was it must've been turned up to 80. Not a pleasurable experience especially with the heatwave ongoing.More

We have been to several L&L's and it's the next best thing to being in Hawaii where we love plate lunches. I got the small hamburger patty (2) with rice and macaroni salad (which I love) and hubby got larger teriyaki beef. It was all...very good.More

So incredible to be able to have Hawaiian food in Houston. I've loved Lau Lau since I was a child, but I had to wait to go to Hawaii to eat it. The quality and taste is ono. Love this spot!
