We watched Sam Riggs here play on Friday and were very pleased. The outdoor space looked amazing, but since it was raining the concert was inside. They had TVs set up in the back so even if you didn't want to stand by the stage you could still get a good view of the concert. There were waiters and waitresses... More

Great place to stop by for appetizers, drinks and dinner. The staff is friendly and always helpful with menu recommendations. Fun atmosphere for adult only or the entire family!

First time we went here, we were blown away. Food, atmosphere and service. We have been 2 more times and found it lacking. Once they were mostly reserved for a company get together but still had several tables extra. We sat right by the door. It was so loud you could not talk at all. We were basically ignored due... Held a small gathering here with alumni of my college. The staff were very diligent with our group, helpful, organized, and the food was fantastic.

Armadillo Palace is a very large venue with lots of party space, including a large outdoor dining area with a stage. The atmosphere is definitely country Texas, and the main dining area surrounds a large bar with TV monitors tuned to the various Texas sports events which vie for dominance with the country music. We enjoyed the ambiance. The food... More

I was wanting some CFS when I returned to Houston and was told this was some of the best. It was very good and very plentiful. We did a split plate and it still was plenty. Nice cowboy décor and friendly staff. Good prices. Parking can be a challenge but worth the trip.

Ended up in here because my wife didn't fancy queuing for the barbecue next door but it turned out to be an excellent choice. Management and staff went out of their way to make us extremely welcome, the music was brilliant, the beer was good and we both enjoyed a very good meal. (I recommend the Venison Chilli and my... Excellent BBQ chicken and ribs. Very loud Texas restaurant. Great band playing. Only draw back is you had to shout to have a conversation with people beside you. Good times had for all!

Classier looking honkytonk! Huge bar fills the center of the establishment that also includes a stage which advertises their support for local music. I stopped in for lunch, so I was not able to enjoy any possible sights and sounds of some Texas country music. However, I did enjoy a incredibly juicy hamburger with some perfectly seasoned fries. I also... More

Leon "Pappy" Selph just may have been the best fiddle player that ever lived. He was the inventor of Texas swing and is best known for having written "The Orange Blossom Special." Back when the Original Goode Company BBQ opened on Kirby Drive, he'd play the first Friday of every month for a flat rate of $65 and a bottle of Jack Daniels. He'd always take the whiskey upfront. And at the end of the evening when Jim handed him the money, the fiddle player would quietly fold it up and stick it in Jim's shirt pocket. He'd tell him, "Jim, things will get better. You just stick with it." It was a kind gesture and good advice. This all left quite an impression on Jim's son, Levi. So it was no surprise, when years later, Levi decided Houston needed a dedicated home for Texas music and created the Armadillo Palace right across the street from the original barbeque place that Pappy played all those years ago.Goode's Armadillo Palace hosts live Texas music several days a week. It serves a full menu of Texas comfort food and is available for parties of just about every size. Levi is no less demanding than his father is, and no place captures the spirit of Texas music the way the Armadillo Palace does.
