We eat here regularly and Moghul is always fantastic. It’s an incredibly busy little restaurant with a great selection of traditional favourites and some interesting little twists. The tandoori chicken livers and the green marsala with pomegranate are my usual orders. It's been under the same owners sincd the 70's so longevity like that speaks for itself! It’s also take BYO so really good value, if you forget your booze the Kings Arms next door are happy for you to take drinks to the restaurant just make sure you take your empties back!

Moghul is our favourite restaurant, it has been for years and probably always will be. Great food, lovely people and we always enjoy dining in the restaurant. However we have never had a takeaway as we much prefer the experience of dining out. Due to the current situation and wanting to continue to support our friends during this difficult time we opted to have meals delivered to us at home. Opting for Chicken & Lamb Tikka starters, followed by Chicken Jalfrezi and Lamb Madras along with Lemon Rice and Peshwari naan. Placing our order just after 7pm we were told wait time was 90 mins which was just fine for us and we were actually happy that they were being kept busy despite the restrictions in place. Delivered after about an hour the food was hot and smelt delicious. Small plastic bag contained the salad sides for the starters, just as you would receive in the restaurant. Lettuce, lemon slices, chopped onion, tomato, sweetcorn and celery as well as a small pot of riata both starters were up to the usual high standard and were enjoyed very much. Mains were truly excellent and you actually seemed to get larger portions in the foil containers, each dish packed full of succulent meat and devoured in double quick time. Sides were as always very good, light fluffy rice and naan. We enjoyed our first take out from Moghul very much, depending on how long the situation prevails we may well have to have another before hopefully returning to see all our friends in the restaurant once the lockdown has been removed. Its reassuring to hear they are still very busy and look forward to returning as soon as we can. Delivered 4th April 2020

Great Takeaway

The Moghul is one of our favourite restaurants as Bring your Own so offer excellent value for money. Due to current conditions we opted for a takeaway and the food is as good as the restaurant as they use natural flavourings and seems low in calories according to the scales the following morning 😃. Highly recommended and looking forward to when we can dine inside again but until then looks like another takeaway next week 😃

Hidden gem

Despite being a curry lover for 30 years and living less than 10 minutes drive away, I had never got round to visiting Moghul....until now. My year long quest for the perfect chicken dhansak took me to Moghul's. I ordered takeway and added a green chili naan to go with the main dish. Didn't have to wait too long after phoning my order in. Service was prompt once I arrived and the curry was very tasty. Although I didn't eat in, the restaurant seemed to have quite a few diners - I understand it's bring your own bottle too. Can't believe it's taken me so long to find this hidden gem - and I returned the following week to sample a different curry which was also tasty. I'll add Moghul to my list of favourite curry houses for sure!

Tasty takeaway treat!

We chose a collection option for our Friday treat, as were impressed with the extensive menu options for this local restaurant . Easy to order over the phone, order available at the chosen time ,with Covid health and safety adhered to. Food was well packed and piping hot, generous portions and very flavoursome (king prawn dhansak with garlic naan,and king prawn Dopiaza with pilau rice,with poppadums and pickles). Good value meal,so will be returning in the near future for a sit in meal.

The best onion bahjis around.

This family run business is fantastic. We started ordering from Moghuls a while ago and we find it very hard to stray. The service is so friendly, they go above and beyond to get it right. The curry’s are really good, they are always on point. The onion bahjis are the best around. Would recommend highly, there’s a reason it’s always busy!

Doubt We’ll Ever Return

My family and I visited for my mother in law’s birthday. Although every table was filled in the small restaurant, we all left wondering why. Most of the family did not enjoy their starters with the lamb chops looking anaemic, tiny and borderline burnt. My MIL was also displeased with her liver starter. My fish was nice but only after covering it in sauces and wrapping it in the lettuce used to garnish my plate. The curries were very unremarkable with many of us finding our food to be bland with tough meat. My naan arrived completely burnt to the point of being black and was sent straight back to be remade. I understood they were busy with take aways but we were shocked that they even bothered to bring out that naan almost certainly knowing we would send it back to the kitchen. At the end of the meal, we were surprised at our near £300 bill for 7 people, given the quality of the meal we had just had. There are nicer curry houses within a reasonable distance with prices well below £45 per person. I would recommend going somewhere other than Moghul.

Tough as old boots

How can you make lamb tikka this tough. Sauce was really poor and very little. I can't really see where the great reviews come from. Won't be ordering again. The prawn dish was very light on prawns and sauce and flavour.

Not great at all

Visited tonight after hearing a couple of people say it was nice. We arrived and there was no one in the restaurant so we went for a drink first to see if it would get a little busier. Came back 30mins later and just 1 table in. Despite it being 95% empty we got a table next to a dirty and broken heater. And next to a fridge that they used the top for takeaway orders. We were also next to the kitchen door and the drinks/food storage fridge. We were sat in a terrible place and felt like we were in the way. The pickle tray was filled from this fridge in the restaurant. Starters were okay but the samosas were very greasy and oily. Chicken chaat was nice. The chicken tikka masala was not very nice. The chicken was shocking. It was the frozen horrible kind. Weird taste. Although the sauce itself wasn’t too bad. The bengal masala wasn’t great either. Same horrible chicken and the sauce was dry and powdery. Kids korma was okay. The garlic naans were actually the best thing but even they couldn’t save the meal as the restaurant is so tired, run down and messy. We left a tip as the service was friendly enough but we wouldn’t go back. Also, £3.95 for a tiny bottle of soft drink is extortionate too.

Brilliant restaurant! A must try!

Visited on Good Friday, it looked busy but luckily we had booked beforehand. Ordered the lamb chops, chicken tikka and onion bhajis for starters, they were lovely. Bhajis were some of the best I’ve ever had. The sauce on the lamb chops was very nice as well. Had the Tandoori chicken for our main, tikka masala and a lamb balti. The tandoori chicken was absolute Devine, it came with a naan which we upgraded to a garlic naan, it was so garlicy and soft. The restaurant is rather small but it has a good atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Service was impeccable. Very reasonably priced for the location. I can see why moghuls was recommended to us by friends. It is bring your own alcohol - if you forget they allow you to buy from the pub next door or you could nip to Morrisons up the road Would definitely recommend to curry lovers in the local area - we will be back.

Poor experience again….

The onion Bhaji was dry and tasted reheated, while the curry had fatty meat and an unpleasant flavour. The sides, including undercooked bread and chips, were equally disappointing. Despite a previous disappointing visit, I gave it another try, but unfortunately, the issues persisted. Regrettably, I won't be returning based on these consistent experiences.

Our first visit to the Moghul Restaurant.

This was our first visit to the Moghul Restaurant in Horsforth and we thoroughly enjoyed it. On arrival, we were welcomed at the door and shown to our seats. The restaurant was quiet but filled up quite soon. We also noted that the staff were busy with take aways and deliveries. Our orders were quickly taken and the food arrived promptly. Our main meals were plentiful and very tasty indeed. I chose lamb Balti with Peshwari nan bread and my wife chose prawn Biryani - no complaints whatsoever. We will definitely be back again.

Delicious food

This was our first visit. It's bring your own booze. They sell soft drinks. It's quite snug and was very busy, so booking is essential, on a weekend anyway. The table was fine for two of us, probably a tight squeeze with all the food for 4 people. The service was excellent. Food was amazing!! We will definitely return.
