We were traveling back to San Antonio from Waco, and my brother who lived in Austin (30 years ago) wanted to visit a favorite spot of his from that time. I know, this is starting off like a Texas Chamber of Commerce commercial. So we...More

Party of 4 stopped for lunch due to the well known name of Salt Lick. The brisket and ribs make me drool just thinking about them, the turkey was on the dry side. I know everyone has different taste but this old German gal knows...More

The brisket was the best I have ever had! I was in heaven when I was done eating it all. I had the burnt ends and the moist cuts. You need to go their at least once in your life. The atmosphere there is awesome...More

Ok, here is the deal. Go to Franklins. Where the locals go. Salt Lick is, now, neat place. Cool to look at. But, if you are from out of town, feels touristy. Tour bus in parking lot, parking outside structure for 7000 :) Most good...More

This place is a bit of a drive from Austin, but well worth it. The property is beautiful. When you enter the restaurant the pit is right there, piled high with a variety of meats. The pulled pork, brisket, sausage and ribs are all great....More

I've been wanting to go to the Salt Lick in Driftwood for years, ever since I've seen a piece about this place on German television. Even though this is such a big restaurant that can handle massive crowds, I wasn't disappointed at all. This was...More

Went here for the first time with a large group. I tried the brisket, sausage, and ribs. The flavor of the ribs was amazing and the bbq sauce which they have in hot and mild is delicious. The sides were mediocre and just know it's...More

Our family of four hit Salt Lick on a Sunday evening. It was pretty quiet and we were seated right away. We had brought drinks for everyone (including the kids) because the website is confusing on the BYOB, but know this: it only applies to...More

Response from Linda R | Reviewed this property |
Yes, they allow dogs. But only on the outside patio and they must be on a leash. The outdoors is where they have the music so it's not all bad except in the Summer when it can reach 100° out there and 90° at night.
