I could eat this pork ribs all day long! The potato salad was unique, but tasty, too. I think they put their BBQ sauce in the potatoes. Our service was great, even though we ran the young guy back and forth a lot. I found The brisket to be a tad dry for my taste, but the pork ribs and... More

Our group of 6 seriously loved this! BBQ can kill my stomach, but this was perfect...not too smoky at all! Sausage was super yummy and we all loved the ribs. We arrived early on a Sunday and we had no line at all. By the time we left, it was super crowded, so that seems to be the key. Brisket... More

OK, yes the BBQ is excellent in Texas. As it is in other parts of the country like SC, NC, and Tennessee. Have been to some top rated places in Austin, but my son said this place was must, so below are my findings. Setting: Barn like and comfortable - B- Starters: None Main: The ribs were amazing, while the... More

I traveled to Salt Lick solo for my first time in Austin on Easter weekend. I arrived 15 minutes after opening and saw a huge line. I went right up front and told the host I was dining solo, and he proceeded to let me right in! I recommend the brisket and pulled pork. The potato salad was good. The... More

It's a long way from Chicago to Driftwood...too bad. This time, we went for a late lunch on the day before Easter. There was no waiter service outside, so we ordered from the 'to go' counter and ate outside. Still have my faves...sausage and brisket. My son swears by the turkey. Potato salad, cole slaw, and beans are reliable sides.... More

Five stars for history, atmosphere, and one amazing open pit smoker. Four stars for the food. That being said, when in Austin area you simply cannot miss a trip to Salt Lick.

Haven't been here in 12 years and glad I was able to visit here again. The atmosphere is country and the staff treats you like family. I had the Uncle Thurman dinner which included ribs, brisket and sliced sausage. It was outstanding as the ribs were juicy and smoked too perfection. the brisket was fork tender and the hot BBQ... I was here 10 years ago. Since then I have been trying to get back. Finally we made it back. The place is totally family friendly. Service is great! The food is amazing. I convinced my wife to fly into Austin just to drive to the Salt Lick. Best food ever!!!

Took Ride Austin for about a 25 minute ride from the W hotel. Thank you Andreas for a great trip and providing my wife and I with so much information. Salt Lick is fantastic! My wife and I got there about noon, and waited only about 5 minutes in line to be seated. Food is FANTASTIC. I got a sampler... More

The experience of Salt Lick is better than the food. The food was a bit above average and the service was quick. Not much ambiance but typical of most barbeque places. Wanted to check it out because of all the hype but wouldn't come back just for the food.
