Popped in here on the off chance. I had the one of the specials which was spinach enchiladas with a pablano sauce with shrimp. Having never had poblano sauce before I didn't really know what to expect but the dish was fantastic and so full of flavour. It was very reasonably priced too. I'm guessing it is aimed more at locals than tourists but as a tourist I loved it! I thought the food was better than a high end restaurant I visited on my trip actually.

Looking around for some Mexican food and came across this. Lucky us. Standard Tex-Mex with nice chips and hot sauce. Friendly service. Nothing fancy; just good.

This is a good little restaurant near Canyon Lake. They have great frijoles and the salsa and tacos are good. Service has always been good and so are the prices.

Great option for fresh food in Startzville that's open a lot! It's a family run business and the owners put great care into their establishment. Many locals come here often and we are lucky to have Las Barcas as one of our eating options here on Canyon Lake, Texas. I recommend the poblano sauce and the fish!

Keywords: Tex-Mex, Mexican, Tamales, Chili Relleno, special Poblano creme sauce, homemade. It takes a very special cook and staff to create a wonderful friendly atmosphere, a selection of authentic Tex-Mex food and knowledgeable staff to suggest special selections. Las Barcas is all of that and more! Families welcome, locals are regulars and visitors excitedly surprised. Thanks Ray for your guidance on the creme de la creme in Mexican food!

Close to the marina, drive through, frozen drinks , casual, oh my! My husband had the chicken chimi and said it was great. I had a combo plate. Didn’t care for the pork tamale or refried beans but all else was great! Also, no one should leave negative reviews on any establishment for bad service - this is a weird pandemic time where any and good employees are hard to find!! Give it a try!

Came back because we were told that they had made improvements.
Walked in, two gentlemen waiting and one waiting to check out. After a while, (about 5 minutes) a lady comes out on a phone on a personal call clearly talking to someone about a guy. She starts to check the one customer, the entire time still on her phone call, and turns around and disappears back into the kitchen. She never greeted anyone or even acknowledge the people waiting. After about 5-10 more minutes, we walked out. If you’ve heard this place has improved, I guarantee those posters are friends and family. There’s no way…

The food is good - my favorite is the fish. The manager Daniel is super helpful and the server Maria is super sweet. It's great to have a local Mexican food restaurant that is open 7 days a week here on Canyon Lake.

Second time we have been here. Great food and service! Ordered the parrillada and it was fantastic! Casual atmosphere that was well needed after a 3 hour hike at Canyon Lake Gorge.

First timers here.
Wife and I were tired after a long day of home renovations, and had a Tex-Mex craving.
Las Barcas was close to home and open. The exterior was inviting and the parking lot was semi full of pickups and luxury cars so we went inside.
We were greeted promptly with a smile, seated and quickly served tea, fresh chips and salsa. Casual, lake time atmosphere...Chips were fresh and good...salsa was good, but won't win any awards.
Waitress was good, tea and chips refills as needed.
The tacos, enchiladas, queso, tamales, and charro beans were great! Substitutions were no problemo... The prices were very reasonable and we will visit again very soon...a new "regular" place for us----not necessary to drive to San Marcos or New Braunfels for a satisfying Tex-Mex meal.
Tip your waitress well...they are working to please you here!
We will return very soon....recommended.
