This was a awesome place to dine! It is listed as the #1 restaurant in shelbyville & I understand why! It is family owned & both of the owners were so kind to us! They made sure our dining experience was the best! She slipped us a piece of pie in a bag when we left and said it was... More

This landmark located on the east side of the Shelbyville square houses a meat and three country diner with specialty pies known all over middle TN. Chocolate fudge, & lemon meringue with mile high peaks, yum. Pope's Cafe has been a tradition in Bedford County for years. You never know who you'll spot coming in the door. Add it to... More

There are simply not enough superlatives to describe Pope's. In a little, nondescript storefront on the Shelbyville town square sits maybe the best meat and three in the nation. This particular trip we chose the chicken and dumplings. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We sampled the roast beef and seriously had never tasted a better prepared piece of beef. The sides we had... Very Americana! Menu consists of burgers and ham. The pies were incredible. We had the pecan and chess. Perfect lunch for driving through Shelbyville.

Come for the pies and other great foods. Down-home cooking and pies. Wonderful pies. Great pies. Pies that you can't believe. But enough about the pies. Cooking like grandma.

The hamburgers here are incredible. Another person had the fried chicken with a couple of sides and they loved it. This is a great little find downtown off the original square. The staff is superb! I will definitely come back again when I'm in town.

There is nothing that rivals the main street charm and cultural heritage of Pope's on the historic square in Shelbyville. It is a tradition of the Tennessee Walking Horse family to dine there regularly when in town for barn visits or shows. The southern family atmosphere is a relaxing and refreshing change. They treat you like family!

It's our tradition to eat here every time we come to the Celebration. Again, we were totally satisfied! Everyone had something different and we all left happy and full. Great, friendly service to equal the down home food. A must do.

Thank Christine D

Pope's Cafe remains unchanged in the quaint country charm and good cooking that has made it a landmark in the South since its doors opened in 1947. Home made dessert and good ol' fashion country cooking make this an international destination.
