When you get out of your vehicle the smells coming from the kitchen are so inviting. We were seated immediately and while the place isn’t fancy everything was clean and neat. Started with a Veggie and a Pork & Black Mushroom Steamed Dumpling. The wrapping was nice and “al-dente” while the inside held the flavor of the stuffing. I love Tom Kha (Coconut Soup) so I tried a cup and WOW! Incredible flavors with a bit of heat to let you know this soup has life. The veggies in the soup were just right and really complimented the soup. If you dine here…this is one of those “must have” appetizers or get a large bowl and make it a meal! On a side note, I also soaked some of the Jasmine Rice in a spoon of the soup along with some of the ginger chicken…the broth is that good.
We had an order of Pad Kra Pao/Spicy Minced Pork over Jasmine Rice and the heat on this dish was a bit high…but good. What was impressive is when our waitress stopped to check on us and we indicated the Pad Kra Pao was really spicy, she offered to remake the dish with less spice (we declined). The Ginger Chicken served with Jasmine Rice and steamed veggies was delicious, loved the mix of sliced black mushrooms and ginger. While there was no heat to this dish, it was delicious.
Overall…this is some of the best Thai food I’ve experienced in the Nashville area and the service was excellent. Based on our interaction with our waitress…if you need less heat in a dish they will accommodate you.

The Smiling Elephant is quaint restaurant that offers authentic Thai food. They have a different type of curry each day of the week. We when on Green Curry day and the veggie curry was outstanding. Also, try the steam vegetables with peanut sauce.
Exceptionally friendly staff and quick service. The only drawback they have is parking. If no space is available in the front there is parking in the back.

This is a great little Thai restaurant. They have only one curry daily was it’s fresh, and ours was fresh. The pad Thai was great also. We also tried the chicken Steamed dumpling, and bbq pork roll, which were great. The atmosphere in the house was pine wood. Note on parking, small upper lot to the right, lower lot via the right driveway.

My husband and I ate here during our trip to Nashville because we wanted to get something we can't eat often at home. This place had good reviews and was close to where we were. It has a great homey feel with limited seated and authentic decor. Our server was attentive but abrasive. It says repeatedly on the menu to let your server know of allergies and when I informed her I needed my entree gluten free, she snapped "it already is" in a sharp tone. I ordered the pad thai which they are known for. The flavor was good, but the texture of the rice noodles was the same as rubber bands. My husband ordered the daily curry which he didn't care for. Tried it to say with all of the other otlptions in Nashville we will be dining elsewhere.

The ginger chicken dish had plenty of cartilage and the accompanying vegetables were room temperature. I've had better here in years past. For the menu prices that are in effect, I'm surprised they add an extra charge for using a credit card.

Terrible, you are better off eating ramen from Walmart that cost .35
We ordered multiple items and all were disappointing, I don’t like to waste food and tried extremely hard not to waste. I looked around and I saw plates are still full and was not boxed to be taken home. I will never forget this painful experience and will not eat here again.

Don't waste your money. 20 dollars for some dried out rice and a Xtra small portion of water downed weak curry. The Chicken seemed to be fake and weird. One diced potato and huge carrot and a tiny bit of fake like Chicken with water Curry all for 20 dollars.Run as fast as you can from this transparent over priced shack. Have a nice day 😊

We went to the smiling elephant as we had great memories from a previous visit 7 years ago. The food today did not live up to the memories. 😥 the dumplings were pretty mushy and the sauce with them so strong it was off putting. I ordered chicken pad thai and it was not good. The waitress was nice and asked if I wanted something different. I ordered cashew chicken which was ok, nothing I would go back for. Husband had a bbq chicken which had very dry chicken. Definitely seems like changes have been made over the years.

I ate here last night and the food, service, atmosphere was great. The problem I had was with the “checkout fee” (credit card fee) when paying the bill. This isn’t posted anywhere in the restaurant. It should be.

What a treat this was on our first visit. Could have sat there all day just taking in the aroma coming from the kitchen. The daily curry was awesome! Owner Sam is the best! Give your taste buds a treat and head down here ASAP!

Incredible authentic Thai food. There is not a single thing on the menu that I wouldn’t recommend. The hours are short and they are closed some days, so prepare for that accordingly. I suggest getting there early for lunch or dinner in order to get seated quicker.

Found out about this place from friends who are locals.
They don’t do reservations, so get there early.
Arguably the best Thai I’ve had.
Pad Thai outstanding, had mine with duck.
Garlic chicken also subtle yet excellent.

Wonderful Thai food. Lively relaxed atmosphere. Charming and fun. Definitely deserves the #1 position on the list. Good value. Good service. Its basically an old house which has been converted to a restaurant.

Second time getting take-out from this restaurant. Very good. Order was prepared exactly as ordered. Was ready when promised. Very tasty. Wish they wouldn't close after lunch and then re-open for dinner because we like to eat early, but its understandable. Keep up the good work. Friendly crew.

If you didn't know it was there you'd have thought it was a garden, so beautiful. Stop by a comedy show a couple blocks away after dinner. The food was delicious, great portions and tons of options. Intimate dining experience.
