Food and ambience

When you first step into Bavarian Bierhaus, you might forget you’re in Nashville. Our hall has the all the sights, smells, sounds, and gemütlichkeit (the German equivalent of Southern hospitality). We have the same styles of beer in the same giant portions, and we have all the schnitzel, sausages, and pretzels you could ever want. Inside you’ll hear live music and the soft roar of camaraderie. You can also enjoy the Tennessee weather from our 120-seat biergarten. You don’t need a plane ticket to travel abroad. All you have to do is visit us along the Cumberland River -- we’ll be here waiting to show you the time of your life.

I guess it's a good place if your goal is to get drunk. My husband & I were invited there as part of a private birthday party. Server IMMEDIATELY brought my husband the asked-for beer. I asked to see a food menu and was rudely...told there were no menus, all food had to be ordered through my phone or the server's I-pad. He brought me the i-pad and promptly disappeared. My host tried to complete the order but it never went through. When I asked the server where the food was, he yelled at me that HE was supposed to complete the order. Never got our food. Music was fun but so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation with our friends. Went home and defrosted a Lean Cuisine, which was yummy. Oh, and even though TN is in the middle of a COVID spike, no one was wearing a mask. Server kept getting in my face as I tried to resolve the food situation.More

After a tour at the Opry we stopped in for lunch. We arrived early around 11:00am and the place was empty. Our server wasn’t the friendliest but she was an ok server. They served our apps and entrees at the same time. The food came...out very quick and it was hot and it did taste very good. However, alot of food on there online menu wasn’t available which was a bit of a let down. They listed all these different flavored sausages and they had none of them available. It seems like there is an issue with overall management behind the scenes. When we walked out of the restaurant the servers were braiding each-others hair at the host station which seemed a bit unprofessional.More

Horrible ! Not what it used to be! We came for the first time since covid hit pretty hard. It was nothing like before, the portions were terribly small and the food was all wrong. We ordered things we used to order and expected to...come home wtuffed with boxes for leftover food. It didn't look/taste anything like before. My roast feed was two 2 small pieces laid flat and covered in a weird sauce. Nothing like before or the picture on the menu. Same with others in our party. The Jager schnitzel tasted almost like BBQ sauce with maple? Very wrong. Service was SLOWER THAN A 3 YEAR ITCH. Not to mention it was $$$. 22$ a meal and we were hungry after. Not to mention we paid in large bills and recieved only large bills back with forced us to tip large bills/over what we planned on. Don't waste your time. We won't be going back.More

We have eaten here a few times and it was delicious before Covid. It was always a vacation stop to eat here. Sorry we did this time. Service was horrible as was food and the people who work there don’t act like they care about...the customers. No personalities at all. Very disappointing. Cold food pasty noodles. No Reuben sandwiches the day we went. Ordered the rueben app and it was awful. Don’t waste your money here.More

45 minute wait; sat at bar; no menus; could not get menu off WiFi because there was (0) Zero reception. We left to eat elsewhere. 2 servers; 2 bartenders; 4 persons standing at reception area! Horrible Service—— just close down if you can’t get enough...workers! Your food is not that authentic and expensive for what you are served!More

This place has sunk. Many items not available, service?? What service. An hour to get a beer and now at least 40 minutes more and still waiting for food. Other tables served before us. Very very poorly managed.

Service was slow even though the place was half empty. Server was not knowledgeable about the beer nor the food. Food took forever and was bland. Not worth the price.

Note: We delayed writing this for a few days because we wanted to be objective and not emotional about our review. We have been to this restaurant twice before and fell in love with it. We told our adult children how wonderful it was and...that we would love to go back to it. Two of our daughters went with us on Monday, Jun 21, 2021. We arrived for an early dinner. Our waitress was "Trilene M." Our first disappointment was that we were told to scan the thing on our table to see the menu on our "smart phone" or they would bring us a tablet if they had to. "Trilene M" arrived and told us to scan the code with our phone. My wife asked for a tablet. She walked away and returned (three times) without the tablet. On her fourth visit to our table she had the tablet. I had finally scanned the code and had the menu on my phone (reluctantly.) "Trilene M" began giving us a lecture on how to use a tablet. She then handed it to my daughter and then took my phone from my hands to "show" me how to use it. I then asked her for a paper menu. She told us they don't do that any more. I placed my phone on the table. "Trilene M" then asked us for our drink requests. I asked her about the beers on tap. She told to tell her "what I like and she would tell me what to order." I, finally, picked a beer that apparently pleased her. One of my daughters and my wife were so frustrated with her that they just ordered water. My other daughter was never asked about drinks. "Trilene M" showed up with my beer and water for my wife and both of my daughters. She then walked away. She came back about 5 minutes later and asked if we knew what we wanted to eat. My daughters tried to ask her questions, but she just took the tablet and scrolled through it to "show them the information was there." My wife and I ordered the Kasespatzle with sausage because we have seen photos of it with a pile of fried, breaded onions on top and were very interested in trying it. One daughter ordered a Reuben. The other ordered a brat on a bun, because "Trilene M" refused to answer questions about the menu. I ordered a beer for my daughter that did not get to make a drink request. Our food arrived and the Reuben and "Brat on a Bun" were okay. Both of the Kasespatzles had only two over-cooked "breaded" onions on top of them. My wife found that one of her onions was simply that skin of an onion. They looked nothing like the photos being shown on the TV screens in the restaurant. The spatzle tasted okay, but would have been better with the onions. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed. "Trilene M" never came around to ask us if the food was okay. After our meal, we asked for the check. "Trilene M" brought the check and I asked about a senior or military discount. She said there was a military discount and took the check to go apply it. She brought back the check and it was exactly the same as the previous check. I pointed it out to her. She grabbed the check and said she'd be back. The check was brought to us and we were anxious to leave. "Trilene M" had already left our table. I took the check to the counter out front and was told that the server had to check me out. I told him I did not feel like going back to my table to be checked out and asked that he do it there. After poking at his computer screen for a minute he told me he would have to get the manager. I said that would be fine. A couple of minutes later, he returned and told me the manager was too busy to see me and that I would have to just wait for him. I said that was unacceptable and told him to get "Trilene M" immediately so that I could pay and leave. "Trilene M" "allowed" me to pay my bill and began to ask if everything was good and how she hoped our visit was pleasant. I told her the beer was okay and left.More

Went to the Bavarian Bierhaus with a group of 8 before the Opry. Made a reservation for Saturday night. Place was busy but not too bad and that was great. We got our table right away and the food, beer and service was excellent. There...was also a great polka band playing. Great authentic German beer hall fun! Location is part of the mall and you can walk out the back of the restaurant, across the mall and to the Opry. If you are going to the Opry, you are better off parking in the lot by Dave and Busters and walking to the Bierhaus because the mall will be closed and you will have to walk all the way around outside. Definitely recommend the Bierhaus!More

Hardly any German import beers on tap. There used to be so many good ones, now just the majority is local craft beers, which are good - but I can get them anywhere else in Nashville! The only reason I used to visit here was...the beer (not the food, no offense).More

No- the place is huge. We went before a sold out Opry show and had no problem getting a seat.

We fry them crispy as a rule. That's the way I like them too. But if you want to be certain, please just ask your server to ensure they come out that way. Prost! Bob
