My wife and I ate here 2 evenings on a recent stay in Rutherglen. Meal sizes are extremely generous, tasty and well priced. The menu offers enough variety of choice and we were well looked after by attentive and friendly staff.

Thought we would try this pub again, as a few years back we stayed on the river and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Well this time the food and service was horrendous! Walked through the front doors and as most people these days showed...our vaccination paperwork, then not to be asked if we have a booking, 10 mins later finally were seated and ordered drinks before our meals, bar service was slow and very unprofessional. Ordered our meals and they came out within reasonable time, only to enjoy our meals while the locals and staff enjoyed smoking in the alfresco area while we were eating. (One family had to move as they were pretty much receiving involuntary inhalation with their children. The kids meals were nothing like expected, ordered chicken skewers for a toddler except they were missing the skewers and undercooked 🤷‍♂️ And the taco cups were also disgusting, my 11 year old daughter could make something a lot more edible and presentable! All 3 adults had Parmis which were just edible, the salad was the only thing that I couldn’t knock, except if you ordered vegetables that was another disaster, the worst 3 and only vegetables that were on the plate was zucchini, eggplant and squash! Seriously do not recommend this Place at all to anyone unless this drastically changes!More

Stayed overnight at Rutherglen after visited winery. Had a meal here before xmas. My partner had the burger and i ate the steak sandwich both meals were very good and filling. Service if another story staff a bit slack would not let us taste a...wine before purchasing a bottle which was mean of them. Downgraded this place for staff reasons only. Meals about $22 each.More

We loved the drinks and sitting outside in the courtyard. It’s nothing special but they had water sprays to cool and keep the flies away. It was a Wednesday night and there’s not much else open. The food was average. Salmon was cooked beautifully but...served with nutmeg (?) flavoured, coarsely mashed parsnip was not great (certainly not puréed as was offered). And craisins don’t go. My husband’s fettuccini carbonara was nothing like I’ve tasted before; flavoured with seeded mustard and needing a spoon due it’s watery consistency. And the chocolate mousse; heavy, grainy, perhaps been sitting a little too long. It’s our third try of this pub, and we wanted to love it…but we didn’t. We won’t be back for a fourth.More

Attended Bistro for meal. Excellent choice of food and friendly staff. HOWEVER, no staff wore the mandatory face masks as required by Victorian COVID-19 regulations. One staff member behind bar was noted coughing into his hand. Disappointing disregard of current laws.

We had pizzas which were good quality however, we discovered we were not given the full range of menus available until we saw other meals being served that were not on the menu. However, happy with the meals and that the establishment was open in...Rutherglen for a TuesdayMore

We ate here on Mother's Day evening as not much open in Rutherglen on a Sunday night. The bar area was filled with very refreshed patrons who, unfortunately then came into the restaurant area. Extremely loud groups made for a less than pleasant dining experience....My husband had fish & chips and I had bruschetta - well, it was the most interesting bruschetta I've ever eaten!More

Went here while staying in Rutherglen for a couple of nights. Girls at the till were friendly, one looking more enthusiastic than the other. We ordered a garlic bread, schnitzel and a kids meal. After 30 minutes we still hadn’t received our garlic bread, yet...the table next to us (who arrived after us) had their kids meals?? I went and asked and she came out with our meals, and said the garlic bread would be coming? It arrived a few minutes later. I had said not to worry as I wanted it before our meals, but they said we could have it for free. Ok. Meals were nice, however chips were not beer battered as described. We ended up leaving without our refund as no real attempt was made to reimburse the garlic bread. It wasn’t the money, more the acknowledgment. Overall, I probably wouldn’t rush back as I would hate to be there on a busy night.More
