What a wonderful dinner! From the moment we walked in the service was exceptional, and the food and wine were wonderful. Good value for such an amazing experience. The oysters were magnificent, calamari special was gorgeous, and the mains were delicious too. I would highly recommend.

Sad to see that others have not shared our experience. However, we recently lunched at this beautiful old hotel restaurant and could not have been more pleased. My husband is coeliac and I have fructose malabsorption. The delightful staff ensured that all our dietary needs were met. We had THE most delicious meal. GF bread (which we usually refuse because... We stayed in the studio apartment in the 'annexe' and loved it - crisp modern decor, comfy bed, good bathroom. We ate in the hotel both evenings, lured by the superb wine list which, unusually in our experience of Australia, had a wonderful selection of mature wines. Choosing between them was hard, but we had excellent advice from Linas the... More

Was in Healesville for the sanctuary and needed to stop somewhere for dinner. Had heard a lot about the hotel so thought I would give it a go. From the moment we entered we were treated fantastically. Warm and friendly staff. Knowledgable about the food and great wine recommendations. And even when we asked ( out of curiosity) what was... Delicious high quality food, and using local produce where possible which is a nice touch. If vegetarian as i am, there are fewer options, however what they do offer as vegetarian is scrumptious! Thank you

Emphasis is one local produce, Yarra Valley mainly. Excellent. We had tiger prawns and chorizo as an entree (it said Andouille sausage on the menu but I don't think it was) then belly pork with peaches. Very yummy.

Thank you for your review and enthusiasm! We agree that sourcing yarra valley produce is a key to our business and is amazing produce to work with. The pork belly with peaches is hard to resist! We're so glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you back soon. More

Lovely setting and nice menu. Understandable that some dishes are not available however it felt a bit like staff were doing us a favour with service. Head to the Grand Hotel where you will be made to feel more than welcome :)

On the recommendation of a friend we went to the Healesville Hotel to try the BBQ in the beer garden. When we arrived the BBQ was still there with chickens and ribs on the grill and the smell was just mouthwatering. The meat was being cooked over hardwood charcoal and I am salivating as I write, remembering the wonderful smell... More

Walking through the door, I was impressed with the presentation of the premises. Simply outstanding, harking back to another time. It "felt" pleasant. That's about where it ended, I was seated, almost begrudgingly by a member of staff, no drink offered, or menu for that matter. I wondered if my personal hygiene was poor, because I didn't see a staff... More

Thank you for your comments. We too love our location and are particularly proud of our newly refurbished accommodation rooms. I am however disappointed you weren't entirely happy with your recent visit. The week between Christmas and New Year's is our busiest time of the year. I can appreciate your feedback with regards to staff being stretched. This in turn... More

Description
Old world charm with new world style, this classic country hotel is at the heart of the Yarra Valley.

We are now offering great food, seven days of the week using the best of the season and region.

Choose from a selection of smaller snacks and tastes to nibble on with your glass of local wine...

Next, let us carve some of our famous K&B charcuterie; Italian parma ham, bresaola, Spanish salamis, and our house made pork, veal and pistachio terrine... served with crusty bread, little pickled vegetables and caper berries.

Our kitchen are slow cooking local lamb shoulders for 12 hours... and roasting local Berkshire pork belly.

Finish with Sophie's selection of perfectly ripened cheeses, hand picked from our copper cheese cabinet in our providore, Kitchen & Butcher.

Our new menu also features hearty classic 'pub style' dishes to satisfy the hungriest diner.
