This was Al Capone's old hide out yet there is no information about it at the restaurant. They did not even mention it until we asked about the history of the place. The food was good and had a very nice variety of choices. The...More

Its a bit pricey but I've never had a bad meal here. On special event weekends you'll need to make reservations far in advance. Make sure you get here at least once before you leave the mountain for good.

This is Monteagle, not New York. I couldn't believe the prices on this menu. This is a wonderful old mansion they've converted to a restaurant and there are so few decent places to choose from in this rural locale, that I wanted to like this...More

This restaurant was excellent. The service, the food and the charm of the place was first class. It is nearly worth flying for 20 odd hours from Australia to visit again soon. Food wise it was the highlight of our four weeks in the South....More

There didn't seem to be an official dress code. We were dressed fairly formal, others were business casual.

Description
Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the "Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee" award from "Tennessee" magazine.
