This is a 450 year old inn with all the charm you would expect from an authentic country pub. Food is good; quantity large (seemed to be true in all the Welsh pubs). You should book a table ahead.

Great food, would recommend a visit if you're in the area. The potions sizes are large so you may not need a starter

We're on a short break with family. Booked on recommendations from guide in cottage we're staying in. So glad we did. Great menu and fantastic specials. Portions are extremely generous. Starters to rival many other places' main meals. Kids' meals just as generous. The quality of the food is superb. Nothing overly fancy but nothing mediocre in what we ordered... More

After an appalling visit to the King George pub in Penmaenpool we were relieved to report a warm welcome and fantastic food from the Black Lion. The pub itself is wonderfully cosy with a large open fire and original floor, it was nice to visit a pub that has not had the character ripped out of it by modern decoration.... More

Traditional pub food, nothing special about it.We had the burger and steak ale pie, both with chunky chips. It has a beer garden. They allow dogs inside which is great.

Hi thanks for response, but appears you may have got our establishment confused with another. We do have a beer garden, but at this time of year it's not currently open, and as regards letting dogs in, I'm afraid we only allow 'assistance dogs' in to restaurant area. Kind regards More

Stopped for meal on a Friday evening en route to North Wales. Nice food - I had fish skewers with rice and veg and husband had y pork (which was ok but grilled slices not slow cooked as anticipated). Great welcome and quick service. Would visit again.

Always eat here when staying in the area. Our only disappointment is that it is not open on a Sunday evening out of season . Staff very friendly, meals are cooked to order, but arrive in good time. With enough time between courses so you dont feel hurried . PLenty to cjoose from - traditiojnal itmes and some creative dishes... More

We've passed this pub many times and have finally made the effort to take a meal and a pint there and my only regret is that we didn't do it sooner. It's an old building, very quaint and very quirky. Quite small too. I should imagine in high season you would need to book a table in advance. The welcome... More
