Called in with a friend without booking but were lucky to get a table. Service was great, warm and helpful. The food was excellent , try the ribs. It looks like a charming little pub from the outside, cosy inside and the food is first rate. Nice beer garden if the weather's good. Try it but make sure you book.

We celebrated a friend's birthday here and the service was impeccable, friendly and unintrusive. The pub decor is traditional and very cosy, dimly lit and every corner screams character. A good drinks selection with spirits and local ales. The menu is very extensive for a pub and there are quite a few specials to chose from. I am amazed at... More

Very popular with the locals but also used by visitors. Food and beverage available. Traditional bar with large widescreen tv. The premiership football match was on live on arrival which was a bonus. Variety of beers and lagers. There was also a dining area and a large beer garden with picnic benches. Unfortunately no play area for the boy but... More

Popped here for lunch on Easter Sunday, three courses for £17.95, food was beautiful. Pub was nice and cosy, would love to spend an evening here and have a few drinks in front of the fire. Staff were lovely, can't wait to return. Little gem of a place.

What a fantastic place. Very old and in keeping with how a pub should be, quirky and full of personality this place is fabulous. Ales were good and food looked traditional, never sampled so cannot comment on quality. I loved the atmosphere and people were friendly, well worth a visit.

We needed a venue where we could order an early Christmas dinner for a special family get-together. The reviews on this site filled me with confidence, so I contacted Colin to see if it was possible. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank-you, Colin and staff. You made us feel very welcome, with a roaring fire to greet us on such... More

We had dinner last night at the Black Lion. We had done a 7 mile walk from Borth to Aberystwyth along the Wales Coast Path in the day time so we were quite hungry. We were not disappointed. My husband had the slow cooked belly pork which was melt-in-the-mouth, and I had lamb shank, which was delicious. The vegetables were... More

The Black Lion has a really good reputation in the local area. Generally you need to book as it is a small place and popular. Standard menu plus specials available on all three courses the night we went. Staff friendly and happy to tweak menu with sauces/veg etc.

Thank Lauren M
