Went with friends for Sunday lunch, were met with a warm welcome. The service was excellent and the food as good as anywhere I've eaten. Probably the best lunch in recent times at a reasonable price in a great venue. I had a ham hock terrine starter followed by a roast lamb main, both delicious. By all accounts the black... More

First time at this pub. Visited whilst staying with family locally. I can imagine that parking can be a challenge here as the pub has no car park of its own. Best park in the nearby lay-by, if there's space. Alternatively, it's on the side of the road I'm afraid. Nevertheless, once inside the decor is bright, fresh and welcoming... More

Stayed in Ruthin for the weekend and visited this pub after researching on internet. We were really impressed with the mix of modern and history. Natalie runs a very customer focused establishment and is very friendly and attentive. Greg who runs the bar is exceptional making sure you have everything you want and delivers a fab service. Alan the chef,... More

I was treated to a meal for a friend's birthday and I have to say the meal I had was excellent. Really well presented and delicious. The service was A1, all the staff were very helpful and welcoming. We visited the Cross Keys this afternoon with our elderly mother. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient and in particular understood needs of a 97 year old lady so we ate in the downstairs lounge rather than the restaurant. The service was excellent, the pub was lovely and warm on a cold afternoon and very welcoming. The food... More

My partner and I have eaten here many times and it has become one of our favourite places to eat in ruthin. The food is always outstanding. They offer a wide range of food and cater for everyone. The service is always excellent and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. Would recommend.

Not been here for a few months, was amazed at change, pub now all modernised, still very friendly, great atmosphere, and most importantly food still excellent, we'll done Daniel head chef, garden now all decked out very professionally, pity it was a bit cold to dine out, this is my destination pub for all my buisnes ventures to North Wales.

Description
This stunning, 16th century public house has been at the heart of Llanfwrog life for several centuries, having served travellers and locals on the outskirts of the beautiful medieval market town of Ruthin for nearly 500 years. Our historic Grade II listed building has recently undergone a major refurbishment, bringing the inn and the facilities on offer up to date without losing any of the charm and character that have made it such an enduring and enchanting feature of the picturesque Vale of Clwyd for hundreds of years. We also have a brand new beer garden with 6 individual patios, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The bar itself offers a fantastic selection of draft beers and lagers - including locally produced ales from the renowned Buzzard Brewery - while our impressive wine list has been hand-picked for us by our very own wine importer.
