We ate lunch here. The red beans and rice was out of this world. The gentleman standing at door, was very friendly, even just when you walk by.

Walked into the Tap Room to start our visit to Beale Street on first evening in Memphis. Unpretentious, didn't eat but had good beer, not expensive and great blues band that played an hour set. What's not to like ?

Where ambition, pride and plain old giving a damn comes to die slowly, painfully and without an ounce of regret.

The Tap Room is just a little "hole in the wall" bar but the sounds coming out of the place drew us in. FABULOUS blues music being sung the way the blues is meant to be sung! Big Don Valentine is an amazing singer &...More

Went in there for a drink one evening and the drinks were reasonably priced, music was good and bar tender was friendly. Strange painting of a nude lady behind the bar which looked a bit out of place but that's just a personal observation. Tons...More

We stopped in here because of the reviews to TA. Although we only stayed for a little bit & just had a beer or 2 we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was great, allowed to smoke, music was wonderful and if you were lucky...More

Just walking Beale St and came upon the Tap Room. Good music, friendly bar crowd and priced reasonable. No cover.

In this age of enforced "tolerance" to all manner of things, smoking in a BAR is not always tolerated. Couple the smoker-friendly atmosphere with a full bar and live blues, you have an extremely authentic albeit hazy, dark, authentic environment perfectly suited for those who...More

Music was good. The crown and Ginger was expensive but I wasn't in the mood for the $5 beer. I liked the mug display. We will walk to another bar. It's located well since we only have a couple of hours.

The Kings Palace Cafe's Tap Room is sort of the neighborhood clubhouse on Beale for tourists and locals alike. There are hundreds of rare beer cans lining the walls. For the sports fan, there are four TVs, including a huge flat screen. Most often, the tubes are tuned to (depending on season) Memphis Tiger basketball or SEC Sports in general. The bartenders are always happy to switch over to another channel for you if you happen to be a fan of a team in a different conference or league. The Tap Room features live music every Friday and Saturday. Each of the clubs on Beale has its own niche musically (blues, soul, DJs, etc.) and the Tap Room stands out as the only venue on the street that consistently features rock acts. We feature the best up and coming local and regional bands that you will hear no other place on the street. The Tap Room is also famous for its Mug Club. It is undeniable that beer tastes better when you drink it out of your favorite mug. Therefore we started the TAP ROOM MUG CLUB. For the one-time price of $20 you get your own mug and receive $1 off the regular pint price as a member every time you come in. More than that, your mug becomes a part of Beale Street history. We have members of the Mug Club from around the world. Some folks may not make a return trip to Memphis for years, but their mugs will be waiting for them when they arrive. Most people like to put a personal touch on their mug which we encourage because, as the number of mugs grows, it is easier on the bartender if he can look for something specific that makes a particular mug stand out. So drop by, get your mug for posterity, and enjoy live music every weekend.
