Having been disappointed by overbooking at the more highly rated restaurants, this proved to be a real find which we enjoyed totally. The new owner / manager served us with humour and energy, delivering a perfectly cooked steak having had tasty starters. We wanted to have dessert but just couldn't manage it. Well worth the visit. I wish her and... More

Had a tremendous meal once again in this brilliant, friendly atmospheric restaurant, deliciously prepared by a first class chef. Staff very friendly always smiling and the owners Angie and Scott always make us feel very at home when my husband and I go in. Spotlessly clean and staff very helpful. Will definitely be back in again hopefully with the family.

Enjoyed a lunchtime meal in a fabulously authentic pub, staff gave excellent service with a smile and food was well cooked and sensibly priced, the Haddock goujons for starters were lovely. My partner was going to have battered fish for mains but likes bread and butter with it but none available bit of a shame. The hand pulled beers were... More

We arrived a little late for the lunch hour to find their Steak & Bute Ale Steak Pie all gone. They had two specials, which we selected -- both were extremely good. They had a nice selection of beer, and we selected a dark one.

I was treated to Mothers Day Lunch which was delicious, I usually have fish but was tempted by the lamb shank, so glad I was! My kids had roast beef which was also excellent, good sized portions and excellent value. Definitely recommend!

As a regular visitor to Rothesay, The Black Bull Inn has been for many years a go to place for myself and my friends. Primarily because they were always very welcoming to our dogs but also because there was a cosy atmosphere and good reliable pub grub. However we were disappointed to hear that since the place has changed hands... More

This is a really nice welcoming pub and serves fantastic home cooked food. Went for lunch on Mothers Day and the 2 or 3 course menu was very reasonable. We both has 2 courses or roast beef followed by apple pie and I cannot fault either. Located straight in front of you as you come off the ferry. It's well... More
