I had a fish and chip lunch in here and the waitress was very off with me, in direct contrast to the foreign waitress who was doing the chip shop side of the business. I had fish and chips and was very surprised to find what I suspect to be frozen (with batter on) fish. There is just no need... More

I have been here so many times as everyone who lives here will know, Lochgilphead is fairly limited and I suppose we need to make do. The cashier was friendly enough she seemed quite happy to take our order, however there were some younger waiting staff in who were just, well ignorant to say the least. However my partner had... A long way from a good food experience. If you are serving un-peeled home made chips then you can't get away with leaving the outside black damaged portions. If you then add a very average (not made at home) meat pie then you cannot get away with slopping a ladle full of beans into the middle of the plate, mostly... More

Friendly service and excellent food. Light crispy batter, melt in your mouth fish and great chips. Yummy.

Visited the cafe with my mother and sister after shopping for holiday gifts and the cream tea was a lovely and welcoming break. The scones were light and airy and the jam and clotted cream were yummy. Enjoyed it so much we went back the next day. The staff were friendly and happy which added to the whole ambience of... More

We visited the Argyll Cafe on a short stop over on our way to Glencoe from Arran. At first we walked around town looking at other options, thinking we weren't in the mood for fish and chips. Ending up back at the cafe (options are pretty limited on a weekday evening in Lochgilphead) we thought we'd take a look inside.... More

I had fish and chips two nights in a row while in Lochgilpead on a fishing trip on the 10th & 11th July 2015 it was amazing. The fish is freshly cooked while you wait, and there were people queuing outside the door so what does that tell you! They were so good that on my return on the 25th... More
