I can honestly say this was one of the most enjoyable restaurant visits my wife and I have ever had. This says slot considering the world we all currently live in and the restrictions restaurants have to deal with. The food was excellent, special mention...to the Chicken Mirror which my wife loved. The service was polite, friendly and efficient. The surroundings lovely and overall just a really enjoyable meal. The hospitality industry is really suffering at the moment and meals like this remind how nice going out can be. Well done!More

We booked a reservation for 7.45 on the phone the previous night and when we arrived at that time were told the table wasn't quite ready so could we wait in the bar. In the end we waited 35 minutes before being brought to our...table at the otherwise not especially full restaurant. As far as we could tell, everyone else in the bar was also waiting a similar time to go to their seats (although we don't know if they had reservations or had just walked in). The food was good enough, although nothing to write home about in particular (which surprised me given the consistently good reviews online). My wife enjoyed her Highland game pie and I had the chicken Morrone. The portions were generous, which was nice. We did both really like our desserts - I had the honeycomb pavlova and she had the cheese board. The staff were a mixture of delightful and friendly, and pretty uninterested (in particular when they removed the wrong vegetables from my wife's main!). Because of the covid rules, we also had to be out the door by 10pm, which given we didn't even take our seats until 8.20 was a tad frustrating, but that's not their fault. A bit more of an apology (or even an offer of a free drink for example) would have been appreciated given the very long wait for a table despite the reservation.More

We had a three course here and could not fault a thing. The baked Alaska was the best dessert we have ever had. Best place for food in Braemar.

Nothing really wowed us at the Braemar Lodge restaurant. Lamb was tough and overcooked, macaroni cheese was sludgy and lacking flavour. Not sure this deserves to be rated the number one restaurant in Braemar, but we didn’t eat elsewhere in town during our stay. The...waitress seemed a bit grumpy. Staff were wearing gloves and diligently cleaning tables, which was one positive.More

There were 7 of us on holiday and they fitted us in for a meal. Staff were brilliant and food was fantastic, we all had something different and it was a wonderful evening. Will definitely visit when are up that way again. We ate on...a subsidised rate (which made a big difference to the bill) but would pay full price without question.More

We had a very nice evening meal here. We booked in advance and were warmly greeted by the staff. The restaurant was tastefully decorated in the Scottish style with both Scottish and British dishes on the menu. The only disappointment was not being able to...accommodate my Mother's request for a half portion of any main dish and had to choose from the children's menu. She also requested a special coffee with Tia Maria but was told it had to be whisky. When the coffee came, it was a muddy brown colour and had not been made properly. However a different waitress approached us, said of course my Mother could have her coffee and made a new one as requested. We would certainly return, the food was freshly cooked and well presented but would appreciate if they could accommodate frail elderly with half portions.More

First venture dining out in months and it was such a treat. The fish and chips were amazing and the service was great. Great value with the eat out to help out scheme but even at full price I would highly recommend a visit. The...honeycomb pavlova was heavenly :)More
