Upon entering Ar Bord both me and my partner were slightly unsure as it really does feel like you're eating in someones living room but as soon as any of the food arrived any fears were wiped away! The food is wonderful, some of the best I've had on Mull in 30 years of visiting and the service is incredibly warm and friendly - all the more impressive when you consider it's a 2 person operation. For what you get personally think that the 35ph set menu is great value as well. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Ar Bord is newly opened in 2021. Emerging from a Dervaig supper club, it now offers fine dining from a well selected set price menu, cooked and eaten in a lovely house which is easily walkable up the hill from the centre of Dervaig. The food was delicious and the welcome was even better. Being unlicenced, you need to take your own alchohol, and being very popular, we recommend booking in advance. A real treat night out.

This restaurant is amazing! Fantastic food from a well thought out set menu, plenty of choices, lots of local produce. My husband is coeliac, and we advised about this in advance and it was so nice that he could eat virtually everything, or dishes could be prepared to be suitable for him, down to the gluten free, warm, bread roll! The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the warm welcome was lovely. Something very special is happening here, and as it's about half a minute from our house, visits will be often!

Ar Bord is run by Joyce and Iain from their home. The atmosphere is friendly and intimate and the food is amazing. A fixed price three course menu with choices for each course, with everything fresh, innovative and so tasty. No licence so bring your own bottle.

This was a wonderful dining experience. Home based and restaurant standard - full of passion and warmth, taste and skill. There was no sense of amateur cookery here - it was brilliantly thougt through, locally sourced, wonderfully balanced, perfectly cooked and served with a genuine friendliness. I suspect everything on the menu is amazing. I'd recommend the meadowsweet panna cotta - it tastes as fresh and fragrant as the meadowsweet growing in the local field margins. Best food I've had in ages. Thank you both.

When we visit Mull we always visit Ar Bord, its an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The food is incredible, the dishes have always been well considered and perfectly cooked. Ian, the chef is so creative with the ingredients, they use locally sourced produce, so the dishes are always fresh (sometimes the ingredients have been picked from their garden that day!). Joyce is so welcoming, she lets you eat at your own pace and is so unimposing. It’s such a relaxed atmosphere and means you can enjoy your food. It’s bring your own booze, but they do have soft drinks available. I honestly can’t recommend this enough.

Beautifully cooked meal with excellent service. We ate a crab dish to start followed by hake cooked on a bed of leaks. Vegetables were a little sparse. For pudding we had a delicious raspberry frangipani. This is a family run restaurant run by a couple from their own house . BYOB. Highly recommended.

I feel blessed to have found Ar Bord when researching our holiday to Mull. Exceptional meal from a set menu - highlights were the local crab with a seaweed crisp: hake with a warm tartare sauce; smoked venison; local lamb with wonderful dauphinois. How we managed desert I’m not entirely sure! A very relaxed dining experience and no wonder it’s booked out. Remember to BYO! If you are lucky enough to get a table you are in for a treat.

From the moment we arrived, greeted with a warm welcome, until we left this was an outstanding evening. The food was excellent, some of the best we have eaten on Mull. The menu was varied and we would have happily eaten any of the options on offer. Following a very tasty amuse bouche we had a delicious crab with chilli pancake starter followed by hake with mussels. The ingredients are so fresh and beautifully cooked, we were delighted. A selection of local cheeses with rhubarb chutney followed, then coffee and petit fours. This restaurant cannot be faulted, an absolute must for anyone visiting Mull.

We absolutely loved this small intimate, cosy restaurant which is within a family home. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. The set menu is creative and based around fresh local ingredients. Booking essential as only a few tables. Can’t wait to return.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant - beautiful local ingredients prepared with skill, love and care. Cheffy enough to be special, without losing any clarity of the quality of ingredients. Foraged items really bring character to the dishes. Perfect service and lovely environment. Booking essential, being your own alcohol. Can't recommend highly enough.

We had one of the best meals ever at Ar Bord. We dined here with some friends and had a truly memorable meal. The food is locally sourced and prepared expertly. So much care and attention goes into every part of the meal. The space and staff were very warm and welcoming; not pretentious or crowded with "tourists". In fact, there seemed to be many locals dining at this spot. Book ahead....making the drive on the single track road to this amazing place is worth it!

This was the best food I’ve eaten out in ages. Run by a lovely local couple from their home, it was a great atmosphere and very friendly service. The cucumber gazpacho, aubergine with vegetables and honey parfait with grilled plums were all unbelievably delicious. Wonderful produce and cooked so well. Definitely a must visit if you’re on Mull - you must book ahead and it’s BYOB.
