Had freshly made Carrot & Corriander soup which was so tasty. Then vegetable curry with poppadoms flat bread and rice. Also had fish and chips which was super. It was top class... served by such a charming, friendly couple. Highly recommended... Thank you!
My wife and i visited Girvan and gave the Auld Aquaintance Cafe a try - We were not disappointed. The Cafe is managed by the husband and wife team Prenil and Delphina - Prenil is the chef and Delphina manages the cafe. They both made...us feel extremely welcome and Prenil allowed us complete freedom to dictate our own taste choices and explored with us our food likes. Prenil can make virtually any dish to order ( rightly called food fusion) and loves a challenge but on this occasion we opted for Indian food and a house special Chicken Kashmiri and a Prenil customised Korma. We also ordered chicken Pakora and Onion Bhajis as starters. Each dish came piping hot directly from the kitchen as soon as it was ready to eat. Each and every dish was a delight , the Pakora was extremely succulent and the dips were delicious as were the Bhajis. The main courses each included the curry dish, rice, a hand made fresh flat bread and a Poppodom - the food was specialised and subtly different in taste from standard curries , you could literally taste a multitude of different flavours. If you are in Girvan then don't be put off by the cafe decor , its all about the food and it is well worth the visit we don't think you will be disappointed and very reasonable prices for speciality food. If you have dietary requirements then they can usually accommodate most - my wife is gluten intolerant and had no issues - However if possible phone ahead and they will proactively respond to your specific needs.More
Excellent home made lamb curry with pompadom, dips, and flat bread. The duck stir fry noodles was also excellent. Owners were very friendly and keen for us to enjoy our meal. The desserts were homemade and good.

Stopped by here on our way home from a staycation. We decided to get a takeaway. The food did not disappoint, the best coronation chicken I have ever tasted and my other half absolutely loved his soup of the day. Will definitely be back next...time we are in Girvan!More

My daughter had numerous serious food allergies and chef was very accommodating cooking her her own special meal and the drop of a hat, which she loved. Fantastic food and service! Went with my husband and toddler who has multiple allergies. Chef asked us what my toddler could eat, and made a dish specifically to her needs. We’ve eaten out as a family a fair bit and we’ve not had that kind...of accommodation for our toddler anywhere, even with for-warning. We had the chef’s special, which was chicken masala, with rice, poppadom and flatbread. The food was delicious, and the flat bread was amazing! Thank you for a great family meal!!More

We read about this on trip advisor and thought it looked good. We both got the full Scottish breakfast and it was lovely. After this we both wanted to try a little something else so I got the rice pudding which was great, really tasty....My wife got a Nutella pancake with lots of fresh fruit which she really enjoyed. We also got a mango Lassi to try and we were both glad that we did. It was really tasty and fresh. The owners were also very nice and attentive. We were going to return the following morning to try something else before leaving the area but were put off by one of the local regulars who didn’t really seem to appreciate that we wanted to enjoy a nice quiet breakfast together and kept interrupting us to ask if we liked what we were eating and even once approached our table, not wearing a mask, and asked us to leave a review. Which we were going to do anyway. This was the only downside to our visit but is not really any fault of the owners. I would definitely visit again for food but would rather it be with just my wife and no uninvited guests.More
I booked here for myself and my fussy vegetarian daughter on the last night of our holidays. Prenil & Delphina went out of their way to accommodate my 12yr old daughter who is a fussy eater and vegetarian. Prenil asked her her dislikes and ensured...not to include them in her curry. He made a mild curry as she doesn't like spicy. So glad we went here as my daughter will now try curries at home. The mango lasso she enjoyed too. Photos include my chicken curry too. Menu looks fairly standard but food is all home cooked and tasty! Particularly recommend the curry which comes with popadom, bread and really yummy rice and the mango lassi which is soooo nice! Unpretentious and run by a really friendly husband and wife team.

We stumbled across this gem 💎 of a place in 2019 and made a point of returning to it this summer. You are made to feel so welcome by the chef and his wife who will cater to your needs. We ordered from the menu...and were also able to ask for things not on the menu (amazing pakora). They were fantastic with the children too. Portions are plentiful and desserts delicious. Would highly recommend a visit as it is a unique and special wee cafe. Thank you!More

Went there today. Had the special of the day chicken Korma (spicy) . The rice, bread and accompanies the whole thing was fantastic. The children packora was amazing as was the pudding, sticky toffee and ice cream. The oweners make everything from scratch. Both very...friendly and are more than happy to please. Will make any dish you fancy. We are booked again this week. Again food is amazingMore
