I went here after not being able to visit Knock for the last twenty months. All I can say is that it was better than I remembered.
They have all the protocols in place for dealing with this pandemic. The staff are more than capable and I really just can't say enough about them. I witnessed how one female staff member helped a customer who was pushing a walker cross the road after finishing his meal. Talk about being caring.
So now for the food. I had a fantastic vegetable soup with brown bread. Of course I added a plate of their tasty chips. My mother got a wonderful chicken sandwich with a side salad. My sister who has gluten intolerance was made a wonderful chicken sandwich with coleslaw and of course the chips.
Lunch was brought down in a decent amount of time considering how busy they were. It was a Saturday and the village was busy. Even though it was busy we did not feel rushed.
Can't wait to go back in my next trip to Ireland.

My favourite eatery in Knock, friendly, busy as it’s just across the road from The Shrine. It was raining whilst we were there so during the heavy showers everyone rushed in and the place was heaving, but it didn’t affect either the food or the friendly welcome.
We visited a few times whilst we were there and sampled cakes and full meal and were not to be disappointed, think they did my favourite French fries ever!
Definitely recommend a visit during your stay in Knock.

I visited knock today and I came into the old ground restaurant and I was delighted with my experience. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The food was very affordable and I had a lovely experience, highly recommend going into the old ground restaurant when visiting knock :)

Visited on a very busy day yesterday, with literally dozens of school kids descending upon the place. The fantastic staff work unbelievably hard and with great grace, so that everyone is relaxed and feels made at home. I had the Irish breakfast and cannot remember ever having had tastier bacon. A gem of a place next to this wonderful Shrine of divine peace, hope and love. Thank you

Thelma & Michael's laid back manner is the key to what makes this such an upmarket experience. The food is first rate but the baking is out of this world. Thelma's scones would take the top prize on Bake Off, any day.

This is my 3rd time and last time here. Food is good that is why I gave 2 try more.
1st time was few months ago, I got hair in my food.
2nd time lettuce was not washed (with a small bug) the chairs were dirty for two of us, a friend got bacon in her vol au vent which was supposed to be only chicken and mushroom
This time, I got a piece of BACON in my chicken sandwich and I don’t eat porc. It is very big deal for me.
This kitchen is full of cross contamination got sure.
NEVER AGAIN!!

Had a lovely lunch. Would highly recommend. I had a lovely sandwich and a cake. To add to my lunch was the unfortunate fact that I left my bag behind me which I only discovered some hours later. I contacted them and they posted the bag to me and refused to take any payment for the costly posting. Truly lovely people. I'll be back again. Marian

Hello Lovely Staff of The Old Ground! Thank you so much for keeping my daughter's hand bag and wallet for a week until our village taxi driver from the west coast came through town again on an airport run! He said you were so nice and it smelled so good, he stayed for a lovely lunch too! You were grand and knew right away what he was looking for! We truly appreciate the extra effort, honesty, and kindness. The gesture was in keeping with how well we were taken care of at our visit. If anyone wants to be treated extraordinarily well and eat great food, this obviously the place to be. Thank you.

Lovely spot for lunch. We were there in the lunch time rush but didn't have a long wait time for our food to arrive, hats off to the staff. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous. I had the chicken burger and chips and we had a large pot of tea, plenty for three of us! Will certainly return the next time we visit Knock Shrine!

I popped in for a coffee and a cold coffee to take with us the food on offer looked fantastic and was served quickly , seats and tables available outside and in , nice clean place with lovely toilets too well worth a visit , a lovely place to relax after a look around , easy got to as it’s situated on the Main Street facing the church. Will I be back oh yes 👍

Lovely cafe, the staff are very welcoming and polite. We had small Irish breakfast but didn’t want black pudding and preferred scrambled eggs, it was very easy to amend our order for the same price and the food was well cooked and tasty.
