I went to eatzen last night for the earlybird ‘magic menu’ to celebrate my partners birthday. The service was great, staff were friendly and seemed to comply very well with Covid regulations. The food was very nice but the portions were very small. After our two courses we called the waiter over to order some more food, we had decided on a starter portion of salt and chilli prawns to share but the waiter advised us that a starter portion only consisted of 5 prawns. We opted for a mains portion of this dish. We were disappointed when it arrived to the table as there were only 7 prawns on this pate and it cost us €20. The food is amazing and the best in ashbourne but the portions are far too small for the price.

Nicest restaurant in Ashbourne- but at a price.

Definitely the best restaurant in Ashbourne, but it is pricey. We had the ribs, calamari and the prawns to start. Divine! The mains were all gorgeous. My mums in as amazing she had the duck with noodles and veg. I had the fillet of beef in black pepper. So so tasty really great cut of meat. The only thing I would say was the food wasn’t the hottest. It’s the type of food that doesn’t make you hate yourself after. I would recommend heating the dishes or something as by the time they all bring it out on the little tray it’s gone cold by the time it gets on the table. Would return. But would ask for the dish to be boiling. Not great desserts- just had ice cream.

Eatzen Excellent Takeaway

With the Covid 19 restrictions Eatzen has risen to the challenge and is now operating a very inviting takeaway service. Some of the nice choices from the normal menu are available on this basis and well worth trying. They have a good safe system ...simply phone in your order and arrange a collection time and a staff member will meet you beside the restaurant and deliver straight to your car.... have ordered a few times now since the Covid restrictions and have been very happy with the health safety systems that are in place.

Takeaway overpriced and tiny portions

Ordered takeaway from eatzen. Food was nice and tasted very fresh but portions were tiny, roast duck was about 5 slices. Starters were small too and not very flavourful. For the prices it wasn't worth it and can get much more plentiful food elsewhere in Ashbourne for much cheaper. Wouldnt return especially for takeaway. No need to charge almost the same as restaurant pricing.

Tim you have created another fantastic restaurant

Anyone who is a fan of Eatzen will absolutely love Zen in Malahide the sister restaurant, it is absolutely superb. Well done Tim you certainly know how to deliver great food a great atmosphere and a friendly heart warming restaurant experience. We have been going to Eatzen since it first opened its doors in 2004, we have always had a 5 star experience so it came as no surprise when we visited your new restaurant Zen it was excellent, we were made very welcome by Shin and all of your staff, it was a family night out and it was just perfect, thank you Tim you are a master in this business and Zen will be a huge success. Fabulous food with family!

We really enjoyed our evening at Eatzen! The friendly staff greeting us on arrival as well as the beautiful aroma of spices set the tone. We shared a Trinity Zen starter - spring roll was the highlight! I chose the Szechuan beef and it was delicious. The chicken Rendang curry is my nephews favourite and lives up to its description of being rich and satisfying. Chicken sweet and sour and sweet chilli chicken were also very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Disappointing visit

Disappointing. When we arrived we were told there was no booking under our name, despite email confirmation. The maitre d was extremely condescending asking if we'd booked the wrong date. We hadn't. Issue was on their side and he made a big deal about squeezing us in. Food was good thankfully but the random noise from the karaoke room every time the door opens and the unisex bathrooms put us off. Won't be returning.

Terrible customer service

Had a booking for 10 people which was made in October for a birthday. New restrictions announced last week meaning 6 per table. I called the restaurant myself to enquire about something to then be told that they could not accommodate my party anymore. I advised 6 to a table is fine and dont mind not being sat together to then be advised no you will need to reduce your party to 6 people instead. The lady on the phone had no interest in trying to help or come to some kind of a solution for our party, more so change to 6 or cancel which is what I had to do. The fact that the restaurant originally had us booked in for 10 people but then could not accommodate it and i had to ring to find out myself is totally unacceptable. Nowhere to go now couple days out.

Delicious Asian cuisine in Ashbourne

My husband and I ate here for our wedding anniversary. Tim (the owner) always greets us and us always around for customers and staff adding that personal touch. Again it was fabulous! The food was delicious, staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was great. As we have lots of family and friends in Malahide we can't wait to visit Zen the new restaurant and sister property in Malahide.

Overpriced, flavourless, poor quality food

Awful restaurant. Overpriced, flavourless bad quality food. Staff were rude and unpleasant. Banging plates onto the table. The restaurant itself is dishevelled. I havent been for years and it used to be fabulous. So Ive no idea whats happened. I would never go back. Member of our party ordered Duck which was off. When she complained she was told it was cooked that day so couldnt be. How unprofessional is that. We asked for a smoking area and we were directed to the fire escape.....INDOORS. There were clear burn marks on the floor and it was filthy. I wouldnt eat there again if it was free.

Tasty and Relaxing Meal

We decided quite last minute to book a reservation on-line. We were shown to our booth on a busy Wednesday night. Staff were very friendly and efficient. We ordered Erdinger and San Pellegrino Sparkling Water. For starters, I enjoyed a Zen Trinity each - scrumptious and adequate portion size starter. My husband thought it was the most delicious Duck starter he had ever enjoyed. Mains were fabulous Sweet & Sour King Prawn (really large succulent prawns) and Rendang Prawn Curry , both with fried rice. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. We didn't have room for dessert, we just opted for a Latte and a Cappuccino. It was a tasty and relaxing meal and good value too. Staff were so kind and attentive, excellent customer service. We look forward to returning soon.

Fabulous experience again

We really enjoyed our dinner in Eatzen our favourite restaurant tonight. It is always a treat and the food was fantastic and the whole experience apart from being wonderfully welcoming was a great safe night out experience and we look forward to returning soon. Well Tim and all his staff for reopening so well

Excellent service shame about the quality of the food

Went here with friends. Now I endeavour to be fair in my remand if course this is just my opinion. On a good note the service is excellent. However, I found the food lacking in flavour. I had the Satay Chicken. The chicken was nice, but the sauce was lacking in flavour. The BBQ Ribs were trlerrib, very little meat. Full of fat. This was a restaurant I loved, but I would be reluctant to return.

Fine Asian Dining in Ashbourne

THere is a great atmosphere as soon as you enter Eatzen. Tim the owner has the personal touch and generally guides you to the best table available. The food is amazing and the service and ambience are top class. Highly Recommended.

Amazing!!!

We have been several times and always had great experiences. Booked for tonight and was a little concerned with some recent negative reviews…glad to say our meal was fantastic… service couldn’t have been better. Had aromatic duck and Yuk Sung to start, both were beautiful. Beef and black bean, chicken noodles and a chicken in a nest for mains. Not a morsel left. Just as good as previous experiences. I would totally recommend.
