Received a gift of a voucher for Sunday lunch here as a wedding present & it was the best present ever. The lunch is expensive but just amazing. The location, service & food was second to none and is definitely 5+ stars. The portions are perfect size but we were asked if we needed seconds which was nice if it... More

This place is officially my favourite place ever. Fantastic place, the food was to die for. Five course meal, you would imagine you couldn't eat that much but it's done to perfection & I wasn't bloated or even too full. The atmosphere is so old world it's amazing, I thought I was on Downton Abbey, the staff dressed in a... More

Enjoy a three course lunch in a historic setting. Start with pre-lunch drinks in the sitting room.....have stuffed mussels to start with either lamb or fish or pick your own choice it will be delicious. Finish with something from the sweet trolley before ending with tea or coffee and home made fudge. Before you leave have a walk around the... More

Was visiting Cork in December with family and it was my idea to go for lunch at Ballymaloe as I knew of their cookery school and books. Beautiful old house and grounds. Very old fashioned atmosphere but that I suppose is part of its character. Unfortunately it didn't end there and carried over to the food. Menu was quite simple... More

TV shows, recipe books and cookery school made for high expectations as we booked lunch for 4. The reality was quite different. The menu was very dated, nothing innovative that would excite the taste buds. My starter was pate and terrine, nothing exceptional or even interesting about this dish. Main course of chicken in tarragon sauce with veg was well... More

With a daughter studying at the associated Ballymaloe Cookery School, the chance to enjoy a meal at the legendary Hotel was too good to miss. It did not disappoint. The 5 course evening menu is definitely NOT a Tasting menu- the portions are almost too generous- but there is quality in every mouthful- fresh locally sourced ingredients intelligently cooked. It's... More

We recently had a wonderful lunch in Ballymaloe House Restaurant it really was excellent. The food, service and whole experience was amazing. The food was served to perfection even down to the desserts which we had a sampling of all deserts on the menu. We will be back it really is worth a visit.

As committed foodies, my husband and I were eagerly anticipating a lunch here in early November with our two year old little boy. All of our expectations were met and exceeded! We were shown to our table in the comfortable and atmospheric main room and revelled in a menu that we heartily agreed was so well thought out that every... More

Thank you very much for your detailed review. We are delighted that all three of you enjoyed your lunch at Ballymaloe. I have pointed out your comment about the lack of colour on the Dessert Trolley to our Pastry department, so that they can keep an eye on that in future.
