There are so many good eateries in Market Square that it would be easy to disregard the tried and true establishments like Cafe 4. But on my recent girlfriends expedition downtown for a show, we chose to eat at Cafe 4, and the service and...More

We liked the food and it was good but a bit pricey, maybe due to it being located on Market Square. Waitress so/so, asked if we wanted bread but never brought.

We were seated immediately, Eric our waiter was excellent! He brought a hinged cork bottle of flat water (no charge) and poured us two glasses. However there was no ice. If you want ice you have to request it. We knew it was going to...More

Our only complaint was that we had a reservation but still had to wait about ten minutes. BTW, there is minimal space for waiting inside, but Market Square is huge and they will text you if the wait is long. It was a busy night...More

This place is one of the best cafes I've been to. The bloody Mary bar is phenomenal. So many choices. We were there for lunch and it was busy, but the service was great. The food choices are eclectic. Everything we ordered was wonderful.

Food was fantastic and a nice dining area outside. Great place to meet friends or just meet people. Different foods to choose from on the menu that are different from the average restaurant.

No, Knoxville is not the low country exactly—it's in the foothills of the glorious Smokies. But tucked in the historic, lively Market Square area downtown, Cafe 4 is cooking up some great Southern cuisine, including my wonderful Low Country Shrimp and Grits, straight outta South...More

What kind of mixed drinks do they offer? I'm not much of a beer drinker.

Description
Cafe 4 entered the downtown scene almost a decade ago, truly becoming a pioneer in Knoxville's substantial urban revitalization. Unbelievable to those who have only seen Market Square in its enlivened state, downtown Knoxville was anything but desirable at the time of Cafe 4's founding. The restaurant was birthed from a desire to bring light to a dark place, and the transformation that has taken place since has been truly remarkable. The front doors open up to the restaurant and a cozy mezzanine bar that is frequented by coffee drinkers, cocktail lovers, conversationalists, and passers by. The back of the building is home of The Square Room, an elegant space used for concerts and events. Swing buy for a cupcake, a cup of locally roasted coffee, or have a seat at the cafe. You're sure to be greeted with southern hospitality and urban taste.
