We have heard about this place for ages and finally decided to give it a try. EVO did not disappoint. Very nice pizza selection with emphasis on flavor and toppings. The crust is very thin which we enjoy. We got the havarti/mushroom with roasted garlic. It was excellent as was the service in spite of the place being crowded. We... More

We like looking for places to eat that are a little off the beaten path. This place is in North Charleston and in a small district with lots of nice looking places to eat. We enjoyed our entire meal: focaccia bread and roasted olives for starters, and brick oven pizzas and a callazone as entrees. The service was great and... More

Found this place leaving Charleston. It was nice not to have to pay for parking for a change. EVO derived from a couple of guys who left downtown Charleston to start this place. 12 inch pizza will cost around 15.00 but it's a classic wood fired pizza with house made sauces and some in house meats. We had the pork... More

Super yummy food, cool location hidden a bit away, great service with a smile, fresh oven pizza. Small menu.... but enough options.

First time eating here with local friends. Funky small joint with good food. Not a large menu, but we had the pork trifecta pizza, which was good. Thin crust. Lots of toppings. Large selection of beer with several local brews. Family friendly with a little outdoor seating.

It had been awhile since we ate here so we wanted to try again before we left Charleston. Loved it! Both of our Pizzas were amazing. I had the sausage, onion and pepper pizza while my wife had the pesto, cheese, something pizza. Great craft beer selection as well. Overall a great place to eat.

Reading so many good reviews, I went. I have ordered a pizza with vegetables, and what came was such a disappointment. So very bitter the first bite! Just the flavor of very burned crust and so strange kind of taste for the whole thing. Why a crust so so so much wet? Who does it? Also the dough does not... More

Outstanding pizza and service. The thin wood fire crust makes this exceptional pizza as does the fresh delicious toppings. In town on business and found the perfect mid week location for dinner.

Description
EVO (Extra Virgin Oven) Pizzeria is the wood-fired dream of Matt McIntosh and Ricky Hacker. Matt and Ricky met while working in the illustrious kitchen at FIG in downtown Charleston in 2003. The pair spent the better part of a year forming the concept for a wood-fired pizza shop that would focus on local ingredients. In 2005 they flew the coop to start EVO. The first incarnation was a mobile wood-fired pizza oven - in other words, a fancy trailer - that they used for catering. Turns out, people really like fancy trailer pizza. It became apparent that the concept was ready for a brick & mortar restaurant, and they found a perfect home on East Montague Avenue in North Charleston, part of the up-and-coming Park Circle area. In 2007, EVO Pizzeria fired up its ovens for the public, and hasn't stopped since. We come to work at EVO every day to bring fun, delicious food and drink to our community. We source locally and regionally because we're proud to be here. We cook with love because we love to cook. And who doesn't love pizza?
