Our hotel was close by, so we walked past this little place several times before giving it a try. We figured it must be good, because crowds were spilling out the door every time we passed, whether it be at lunch time or any evening hours they were open. When we finally got in, we took the last two open seats. It's very tight quarters inside, but the service was on top of things, so our lunch was smooth sailing. We tried raw oysters from the daily list (appreciating the breakdown of location, size and salinity provided for each), then had crispy oysters and seared scallops salad for our entrees. The crispy oysters were breaded in what I would describe as a light textured Asian-inspired crust and tossed in a spicy garlic honey sauce. They were amazing. Cooked to perfection and coated just perfectly with the sweet-spicy glaze. My wife's scallops were also cooked perfectly and her salad contained some really interesting and uncommon ingredients (thin sheets of watermelon radish, little finial-shaped green cruciferous things (forgot their name, but part of cauliflower family) among others. She loved it. We learned they were moving to a larger spot in the historic district and turning this little place into another concept. Hopefully the changes will all be for the good, because this place will be hard to beat.

We had a lovely mid-afternoon snack at 167 Raw. Alex, our waiter, was well informed, suggested great drinks (he is usually behind the bar), and recommended great oysters. Everything on the list of fresh oysters was impeccable. The atmosphere was lively — always full with a line, the drinks paired well with the seafood, and the cooked food was well-made and delicious. We would have gone again but for a 90 minute wait! No reservations — walk ins only.

For a single the wait ended up being over an hour but the staff is very kind and accommodating. There is seating outside so you can sit while you wait and they allow you to get a drink to help pass the time. Sparking rose makes everything better! I had 1/2 dozen Oysters with 2 from 3 different places (canada, pei and cape cod) that the shucker recommended.. all were amazing The Fish sandwich special was the Pastrami'd swordfish that my server recommended. I was a little unsure to get it or not but he highly recommended and said it was unique to their restaurant and wow was he right!

We never do long waits for food, but the recommendations on here were so appealing that we waited an hour and a half to be seated (accurate wait time quoted). If you don't mind a wait, it is worthwhile. All of the previous reviews are accurate, it is a small restaurant and you are seated where they have space, so if you get bar seating, it is what it is. We sat at the bar and had a great conversation with our bar tenders, Elliot and Taylor, who were very friendly and attentive and made the experience personal. We had the top recommended tuna burger and lobster roll which were both delactable and did not disappoint. The guacamole appetizer was really flavorful as well. We would, most definitely, choose to dine here again.

We waited about 1 1/2 hours the day after Christmas, but the food was definitely worth it. It was a beautiful day and we had a bottle + of wine while waiting while striking up conversations with others. Not a bad way to kill an hour. We had the monkfish tacos, ahi poke, wreckfish crudo and tried all the oysters of the day. I saw there was a new location opening on King Street it said late 2019 but was not open yet.

Easy to find but on Saturday there was a wait of about 30-40 minutes. We were a party of 3. The moment we were seated service was nothing short of superb, the wine recommends were great and all the local dishes were scrumptious, from the variety of oysters( you get oysters from different states) to the lobster EVERYTHING was top notch... We tried a number of dishes and everything was wonderful. Highly recommend this place.. be aware it will be pricey but worth the extra cost.

167 was a great find in Charleston. Visiting during Covid redirections, we realized shops and most restaurants in the shopping/dining hub on King St. close down pretty early. We found 167 Raw after hearing reviews and it was fortunately open later than its neighbors, yet took precautions with its patrons with temp scans, masks and reduced capacity. The homemade vodka hand sanitizer on each table was a good touch. Food - The ceviche was super fresh and light on an extremely hot day. I also enjoyed the petite local salad and the Bomba potatoes (these were excellent). They have a full raw bar and tequila heavy cocktails if that’s your thing. It was a great find, living up to the Charleston food experience

Excellent food, and most entertaining and informative to sit at the 4 person bar on the edge of the kitchen, where 4 people were working in a space about 10’X10’. There are maybe 18 seats, of which all but 6 are at the two bars. We had tuna poke, lobster roll, and a very creamy and dense key lime pie; all were excellent and the staff was attentive, answered questions, and interacted nicely but not obtrusively.

Friends recommended this restaurant to us for a late lunch. Note - they do not accept reservations and it’s a local favorite so be prepared to wait if you visit during busy hours. I assure you, the food is worth it! We sampled over-the-top guac & chips, oysters, fish taco, lobster tostada and delicious key lime pie (sublime). The frozen cocktail (a blend of our server’s two favorites) hit the spot on a warm Charleston day in their cozy courtyard. Highly recommend!

Eating here wasn't planned since they don't take reservations and we don't like to wait, but the street side host taking names changed our minds when he said he could get us a drink while we waited and at the same time we noticed the tables seemed to turn over quickly. We were lucky to get an outside patio table for the 4 of us. Because we thought the lobster roll was served cold, we had settled on ordering lobster tacos and tuna burgers; but when the waiter told us they did Connecticut style lobster rolls served hot we immediately changed our minds. This was totally unexpected and we were elated because generally we find more places serve salad style lobster rolls which we don't like. We are so glad we decided to wait outside for a table and drink. It was definitely worth the wait. The lobster rolls were perfect, so were the selection of oysters we ordered. We highly recommend 167 Raw. The service was top notch and food outstanding. Plus key lime pie is my husband's favorite all time dessert and he was disappointed!

On a recent and first trip to Charleston, my husband and I doubled back to this restaurant because the food (and drinks) were so good. We had raw Oysters (great selection), Halibut Ceviche, Lobster Roll and Tuna Tataki and it was all AMAZING! Great vibe inside the restaurant. While you likely will wait (because it's that good), they can text you when your table is ready (aka time for shopping) and also have a nice little patio bar in the back. We sat at the bar both times and everyone was friendly and informative.

Let me start by saying I am no a seafood person. My girlfriend however is, I saw they had fish tacos and I was happy with that. We arrived around 11:30 am on Friday and they had a 30-35 minute wait (go when they open at 11), you could not go inside and grab a drink to wait (because of covid), no big deal, they take your number and text you when ready, so we went to local stores nearby. Loved the vibe and atmosphere here, very light, airy and energetic. We were sat at the back bar, which we like sitting a bar anyway, Kareem was our waiter. I thought I'm going to expand my horizons and try something different, I had shrimp cocktail, which was great that you could order 1, or 100, only order what you want. I ordered 6, ate them all. I tried the baked oysters, I guess I like seafood now, I loved them. But the creme de la creme was the lobster roll. A fresh, slightly toasted butter bun with chunks of fresh lobster mixed the perfect amount of not your typical slaw. I woke up the next morning thinking about the roll and shrimp. 167 made a seafood person out of me. I loved everything about this place, Kareem was great, the blood mary was sublime - loved that they served it with crushed ice in a tall glass, the garnish was simple and not a salad. Great great place to try if you're in Charleston.

The bad news first......this restaurant doesn’t take reservations so you may wait up to an hour or longer on some days to get in. The good news is that it is worth the wait. Friendly service and great food are on tap here. We enjoyed freshly shucked Oysters, Tuna Tataki, Halibut Ceviche and a Shrimp Po-Boy. Throw in a couple glasses of wine and there you have it. Covid protocols were being followed, but this restaurant is packed, which may disturb some. If you are looking for a fun afternoon or evening, and don’t mind the wait, you will enjoy this restaurant!

We decided to stop there for dinner last night, since it was ranked really high and that it was open amidst the COVID-19. We ordered at the door, service was really good, and only a 10 minute wait. That being said, $65 for two small sandwiches and 2 beer cans was extremely overpriced! The po-boy scallops was delicious, but the swordfish pastrami was very average, and not very tasty. This place has so much potential, but the dishes are very average and extremely overpriced.

Our first night in Charleston with our new sailor! We were so happy to see our son after not seeing him for two months that we were quite ok with the 1.5 hour wait for a table on a Friday night. Obviously, the thing to do is to get on the wait list first, then park, and maybe shop. We were required to sit outside (Navy rules during this covid period) which was a bit limited. The inside is attractive with its brass, marble, and retro decor. - can't wait to return and sit inside. We opted for the Big Boy sampler to share amongst the three of us. I could not say exactly what oysters we got as we left that up to our helpful and competent waiter. But all of the oysters were very good, as were the clams, and the very large shrimp. We are from Texas so we were excited to try oysters that are new to us. The drink menu is varied and good. At first I was concerned about the menu as I saw a lot of tacos and Po'boys. For our entrees, my son and husband had the Pastrami'd Swordfish, which was excellent. My husband who doesn't always like seafood thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the tuna burger, which was also excellent. The sides to these wonderful entrees were unimportant since the mains were the stars. I only wish the menu had more description so we didn't have to bombard the waiter with so many questions. We finished the meal with Key Lime pie which again was excellent. We felt the amount of food, the quality, and the service we received far surpassed the cost of the meal. 167 Raw set the bar high for other restaurants in Charleston. We can't wait to return and try other food and drink at 167 Raw!
