My Wife and I visit this restaurant every time we are in Charleston. This has become one of our favorite places. It's small and family owned and they are all so loving and kind when you come in. The food is out of this world I've eaten everything on the menu at this pt and so has my wife. We... More

We saw this promoted on Food Network as the No 1 place in the country for Fried Chicken on Top 5 Places. Sunny Anderson and Geoffrey Z. It lived up to our expectations. Friendly staff. Good sides as well. Lunch will run you $15 per plate which may seem a little high for lunch but was the best meal of... More

You don't go here for fancy food or great service. This is true southern food and some of the best porkchops I've ever had. Avoid the tea. Everything else is like eating at your grandma's table. Would definitely go back.

Saw this restaurant on the travel channel and had to try it. Glad we did. Ambiance great, but as Yogi Berra said , "nobody goes there anymore it's too crowded ". Fame has probably led to mass quantities and mass produced food. Good - but not hot.

Just read ALL the other 1 and 2 star reviews, they had almost the same experience- only 3 tables filled but still had to wait 20 mins for food that was bland and canned, while other tables before us never even got their food by the time we left. Plus they didnt even get the drinks out to us until... More

The ladies who welcomed us and served us were just as charming as could be!!!! The fried chicken and sides.....potato salad, cabbage and bread pudding.... were "to die for" delicious. As advertised and seen on t.v., this is no-frills dining but when the food and friendliness is this good, who cares?!?!?! I do wonder what the Tuesday special "mystery meat"... More

BACKGROUND: Ok, let me say that I do pride myself on soul food consumption. You can keep your overpriced tapas (by the way, commonly served free with drinks at bars historically in certain areas - hipster suckers!) and hoity-toity food with a bunch of ingredients no one has ever heard of. Being originally from Houston and having some very diverse... More

First of all, for those expecting this to be a boogie touristy stop, this ain't it. Now with that being said, one of the best soul food spots around all the way to the chitterlings, if they are available. You will have to wait for your food because they actually cook to order and it takes a while for perfection.... More
