Never been to this restaurant before, found it through a simple Google maps search for somewhere along the 422/202 drive home. The atmosphere, service and food were all great. A few problems with a few of the many draft beers not being available, but found one that worked. Will definitely go back, even though it's about 40 mins drive from... More

We stopped here for lunch on recommendation by our hotel and were not disappointed! Great selection of meals, even for the gluten-free member in our party. Server was friendly and offered his favorites from the menu. Welcoming atmosphere in a building that dates back to the Revolutionary War.

We were looking for a different Sunday Brunch from the tired standards at Minella’s and Nudy’s. We tried Black Powder Inn and were very disappointed. The Inn is historic and delightful visually. There is a lot of genuine legitimate history in the building, going back to the Revolutionary era. Restaurant-wise, it has been many different establishments over the last 20... More

Our family had lunch at this tavern in an historic house upon the recommendation of our hotel. We were glad we went! The menu was varied with many unique offerings. We were advised that fresh, local ingredients were used - and it really seemed to make the meal special. We shared a "starter" and each of the four of us... More

Appreciate the centuries old historic inns in the Valley Forge area. Especially enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, salads and turkey from the steamer table. Wide variety of sides and entree choices. Disappointed in the prime rib being much too rare. Desserts were nothing special. Despite being a buffet, service was distracted.

Nice drinks, okay atmosphere. Nice booths. Food average, a bit overpriced. Not a must. Don't try the salads.

Bartender knew her stuff. Food was good. Had French onion soup and Reuben sandwich. Very well done. Local atmosphere with plenty of seating. Very busy at local happy hour time with special prices. Go local!!!

I had forgotten we had eaten here a few weeks ago, but just came across the receipt.... No way we were going back anyway, food was prepared poorly and staff seemed aloof, but I just noticed we were overcharged - for a drink, that we didn't have @$9! No, not even going back for our 9$.

Tried this place Saturday nite. Arrived to completely filled parking lot but turns out they have a complementary valet. Menu is American - nice beer and wine list. Food was lackluster as was the service. Chicken pot pie was disappointing-not really a true pot pie - no bottom crust plus hardly any chicken in it

Took a chance and we weren't disappointed. Totally yummy. The mussels in garlic sauce are tremendous and make a good lunch. The garlic fries are fantastic. Be sure to ask for bread, you'll want to sop up the pot liquor.

Description
Located just outside Valley Forge National Historical Park, Black Powder Tavern combines local flavors (edible AND sip-able) with American history in a pub-like setting. Warm woods and just-dim-enough lighting add to the tavern feel, enhanced by a reclaimed sawn oak bar with 12-cushioned stools (plus 6 high-tops), materials that are echoed in the dining room and in the flooring. Weeknights feature happy hour from 5-7PM, with a reprise happy hour on Thurs., Fri., and Sat. from 9-10PM. On Sundays, a prix fixe brunch is offered from 10:30AM-2PM, and the big game is always on.The menu features a variety of small and entree-sized plates, and highlights the flavors, ingredients and culinary trends Philadelphia has become known for—and that pair well with our extensive craft beer offerings. If you’re looking for a new favorite burger, you’ve come to the right place; our veal and chicken versions are hearty and flavorful, as is our pork sandwich. You’ll also find several salads and sharable items such as deviled eggs with smoked trout, pork and chicken wings, polenta fries, calamari and more; plus a fresh fish of the day (and of course fish ’n’ chips, cedar plank salmon and chicken marsala. Whether you stop in for lunch, dinner, happy hour or Sunday brunch, there’s something to satisfy your hunger, and your taste buds.Beer enthusiasts should take note: there are 24 brews on tap and 39 bottles. The selection is tweaked regularly, so if you’re looking for something new and special (or old and admired), this is the place to come. There’s plenty to satiate non-drinkers as well, including milkshakes made with Franklin Fountain ice cream—for an added historical touch, of course.
