I joined a friend for a celebration dinner and had a phenomenal experience. Who knew that this gem was hiding itself away in the Little Italy section of Pittsburgh? No matter what you order, it is going to be delicious. A memorable meal, with exceptional service by Landon, what a delight!

We went to Station with a group of 8 to celebrate a graduation. I selected Station because it had delicious looking meat options, but also had a reputation for providing strong vegetarian/vegan options. The drinks were inventive and tasty, the server did an excellent job, and the entire meal from appetizer, through main course and dessert was fabulous -- everyone raved about their meals. The James Barkhurst (Dos maderas 5+3, Salignac cognac, Barolo Vermouth, Butterscoth dolin blanc vermouth, coffee porter), and a drink called the Penicillin stand out from the several that I sampled. The Roasted Carrot appetizer was truly amazing, a hearty blend of flavors and textures, and the best of the first courses tried. They also had a seasonal chilled cucumber soup (smoked trout roe, charred cucumber skins, pressure cooked ancho and a yogurt panna cotta). Interestingly the baby romaine salad with its buttermilk dressing reminded one of the guys of a great burger, without having any meat in it. Two people had the station burger, served with onion rings and ideal crispy, seasoned french fries bearing bits of real potato skin. They were great dipped in the asiago fondue that came with the burger. Two people had the vegetarian carrot bolognese, which they enjoyed. One had the spare rib appetizer for his meal, which ended up being a huge portion with four large ribs. Both the hanger steak and the scallops on the prix fixe menu were excellent. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, with its cauliflower, roasted mushroom, shallot and roasted garlic custard. But the scallops were unbelievably good, served over rhubarb jus with pickled ramp relish, white asparagus and green garlic fritter. Even though there were only three scallops, the entire dish was deeply satisfying, particularly the asparagus in the sweet-tart sauce and I thought the amounts of each element were perfectly balanced. I appreciated that they did not just pay lip service to offering tiny bits of (tasty) vegetables, as often happens in nice restaurants, but gave enough for a balanced meal that stimulated the palate. The lavendar pound cake with coconut pudding and candied pineapple was delicious and everyone happily helped the person that ordered it finish hers (it was a pretty large dessert). But the star of the desserts was the caramel caramel corn panna cotta, a rich satisfying custard topped with the most amazing caramel with caramel corn on top. (Sorry desserts did not last long enough for photos). My prix fixe meal (roasted carrots, scallops, panna cotta) was the best meal that I have had in a very long time, and at $45 was a real bargain.

We had a wonderful brunch here. It is a lively place in a great area, with moderate noise level. I had a tasty brocoli frittata. The servie was a little bit slow at times but very friendly. Nice spot!

The food was awful! Horrible wedding soup,my husband's salad was only lettuce. The penne a la vodka was terrible..
And ,if I had seen this sign before I ordered, I would have left immediately.

Four of went for dinner on a Sunday evening. Service was excellent. The restaurant is spacious enough that is was easy to carry on a conversation without having to yell, which is a big plus. As for the food, it was hit or miss. The local grains (with beet) salad and the roasted carrot salad were excellent. We all absolutely loved the local grains salad. The carrot Bolognese pasta dish and the scallops were quite good. But two of us had the tagliatelle with pork shank and we both wished we had ordered something else. The noodles were well-cooked, but came in a thin layer of broth that wasn't anything special. The shreds of pork were blah. We enjoyed the pound cake for dessert, but wished it had come with whipped cream or ice cream.

Food we were served was delicious. Small menu. A couple vegetarian choices but mostly meat (counting fish as meat). Decor was quaint city. Service was good.

This was an impromptu stop on Valentine's Day. We had heard of this creative spot and wanted to check it out. We were not sure at first because the selections are so unusual. We were not disappointed in the least. I had the Pork Schnitzel Sandwich (Yes, that's what I said) and Fries. The pork was tender the aioli was so tasty, the bun moist and the fries were outstanding. They were warm crispy and with a touch of garlic. Wow. That coupled with Hop Farm Porter-can't be beat. Will do it again. My wife had the Roasted Mushroom sandwich with goat cheese royale and sprouts. It too was great. She said she would have it again as well.

Wow! Great flavors. We had the Honeynut Squash small plate to start. Then the Hamburger and Roasted Octopus as our mains. All were fabulous. The cocktails were unique and tasty too!

Lawrenceville is rightly all the rage now for innovative restaurants in Pittsburgh, but Station in Bloomfield is doing some very inventive things too. It's sort of modern American cooking but with definite Italian leanings and subtle Middle Eastern/North African accents. It's menu isn't particularly large but almost every dish, from start to finish, is an interesting option to consider, whether you like meats, seafood, or vegetarian.
The two appetizers we had were truly outstanding and ample in size: the Roasted Carrot and the Corn and Tomato salad. Not just fresh, flavorful, and great combinations but different from any counterparts I've ever tried before. And the "spare rib" was actually three substantial ribs and excellent quality without being over-flavored.
Of our three main courses, the Scallops and Octopus dishes were excellent and unique in their preparations (the scallops portion was large but also pricey; they offered a smaller portion on the cheaper "tasting menu" and that's what I'd do next time). Our third main course, the Carrot Bolognese, was OK but less interesting than the others; perhaps we had unrealistic expectations for a pasta dish given the excellence of the Roasted Carrot appetizer.
We really had to push ourselves to fit in dessert (there are only two) but are very glad we did. Our waiter's favorite was the distinctive Panna Cotta, which was very good and offered a range of contrasting flavors that made it a real topic of discussion. But the Pound Cake, wonderfully moist and gently flavored with lavender as well as pineapple, was just terrific (also large enough for two people to share).
I'd rate my experience here as good as my recent very positive experience at The Vandal in Lawrenceville. Both have creative chefs trying to do something different without going off the rails.

We visit this place frequently - Chef Curtis has a clever hand and we try NOT to order Wings/Liver Pate/Hamburger every time because he has so many delightful offers! This time our Server “made” me get Carrot Bolognese; I would have skipped it, and it was WONDERFUL. Also the Asparagus side was just perfect. Thank you AGAIN.

We were celebrating our anniversary. Were originally seated in the dining room but they kindly told us that a table of 12 was coming and we were concerned about possible noise, so they let us move to a comfortable high top table in the bar by the front window. We appreciated that.
We both chose the 3 course tasting menu for $45, and I got the $20 wine pairing with it. I had scallops, and my husband had the hanger steak. All of our courses were delicious and well-prepared, with a complex blend of flavors. We also thought it was a great value. Service was efficient and friendly, and we hope to return.

We went here with some friends to celebrate a birthday. We dined on a Sunday evening but there was still a little bit of a crowd, which is probably a good sign.
The chicken wings came highly recommended, and I made sure to order them. They were delicious. If I went back I would definitely order them again.
Since I indulged on the wings, I went with a burger instead of one of the entrees. The onion jam on the burger was a little overwhelming, but the rest of it was well put together.
The ambiance was nice and the soundtrack was good too.

We enjoyed our dinner at Station after work. The menu is concise and has good options for everyone. I went for the chicken liver mousse, which was decent. My favorite dish was the fall squash and barley risotto, which packed great flavors. The popcorn panna cotta dessert with the caramel was delicious although the popcorn's seeds were still tough. There are other items on the menu that I'd love to try in the future as well like the persimmon and goat feta appetizer.
I like the ambiance of the restaurant as well as its decor. I think it's a nice spot for date nights and a small group of friends.
Service was very good and our waitress was very nice. Prices are a little bit on the high side, but still reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants in Pittsburgh. I'd definitely recommend trying it out.

My friends and I️ did a Saturday night without a reservation and were able to be seated just before 8 pm with no wait. This was the first good meal I️ had at this location since D’Amicos closed! How I️ miss their delicious Italian food. And this was my first time at Station. The restaurant in between was not good in my opinion.
Anyhow, the decor looks good. We sat in the high booth in the lounge by the kitchen. Nice seats but it is very dark and hard to eat your food.
Two of us had the pork chop and it was delicious and full of flavor. The finish was delicious and tangy. Some of the veggies were very salty. My other two friends had the pork tagliatelle. It had a fancy name that I️ can’t remember. It was delicious and were told all the pasta and pierogis were home made. And another had a calamari bolognese sauce that was very good. And I️ had never seen that before.
Prices are reasonable. $16 for a burger platter which they were out of. Most pastas and large plates were $22-$40.
The service was excellent although it took awhile to get entrees. Bread must be extra but I️ didn’t see it on the menu. It was not brought to that table and we did not request it. But the waiter made the statement “you should get the bread if you get that”. We had a young man named Zack and he was friendly and answered all of our questions very knowledgeably.
Will definitely go back.

They have a Saturday happy hour, everything on the menu sounded appetizing, and what we both chose was delicious! One of our best date nights this year! So glad we tried this bar/restaurant.
We ordered the Bavette steak, carrot salad, the tagliatelle with pork, and the lavender cake.
We found street parking a few blocks away. The inside of the place is decorated so well - industrial, dark, and intimate.
We both can't wait to return!
