It literally took 20 minutes to place a drink order -- and that includes water. The service was exceptionally slow and our waiter was less than knowledgable about the menu. (We were told an appetizer was vegetarian that turned out to have pork in it.) Entrees were all just average -- and the wait was excrutiating. I know it's still... More

Excellent food, great service, and helpful staff. Yummy french bread with a very tasty butter and spice spread. Haven't heard of the french wine - not a problem -have a complimentary taste. Menu composed of many delights; you'll find something you like. Recommended and we would return in a flash when next in Pittsburgh.

Interesting. Went from Southwest to French with a change of name but the same decor and wait staff. I had Poulet Dijonnasie that was very good. Juicy with a Endive salad which was also very good. Marilyn had the Bourginon, which she did not care for. Its was fairly dry and needed some sort of liquid to make it work.... More

This was our first time dining at the relatively new Le Lyonnais restaurant. It is located on Penn Ave. where Sonoma Grill used to be and part of the same restaurant that Sonoma belonged to. The food was very good. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the fettuccine basquai dish, which she had specially prepared without some... More

Very disappointed with lunch service and kitchen timing. Ordered drinks, soups, sandwiches. Drinks and soups arrived - soup slow to come out and we waited 50 minutes from ordering and finally had to ask the server about the sandwiches. (She hadn't checked back with us sooner). Told her to box as we didn't want to stay any longer. Came out... More

A great welcome to an interesting room (have a look at the bar). Food first class and not too pricey. When warm the glass front is drawn back. Nice touch.

Visiting Pittsburgh and attending a conference a block away, we planned in advance to have Friday's lunch at Sonoma Grille. As the trip approached, our contact person learned the restaurant was changing menus and name and would be Le Lyonnais, serving Lyon-style French food. We were happy enough with the change. The restaurant said they were expecting quite a crowd... More

Sonoma has changed their image to a new restaurant called Le Lyonnais. They are now serving french food of the style of the Lyon area of France. The service was extremely good with consistent attention to our needs. The food was unique and tasty. The standard menu was slightly limited, with good specials, but, as usual, the specials were expensive.... More

My college roommates were in town for our annual Girl's weekend. It was the first time they had been to downtown Pittsburgh and we planned to have dinner and go to the Symphony. I booked a table at Sonoma Grille for 6pm because I had been there 5 or 6 times before and had really great experiences. This time was... More

To be honest, the eight of us were coming from the convention center and only had an hour for dinner. Sonoma Grille said that they could accommodate our request for sandwiches/burgers and have us out in an hour. They seated us in the bar area. A long story short, in an hour they were only beginning to serve, a good... More

Description
“French comfort food”. These three words may not seem like they belong together but they do here at Le Lyonnais. Our concept is one of simple, affordable, yet delicious dishes inspired by time honored recipes from my hometown of Lyon some of which have been in my family for generations.
