I've been to Lucca for lunch several times and have been content. I like sitting on the terrace in good weather altho Craig Street isn't the best environment. Most recently I had lunch with a colleague: good salad and good pasta dishes. Service was a little slow, but it was a good place to talk. Good espresso, too.

Went there during on for a casual meeting with my collegues on a fine Pittsburgh morning. I have often walked past this "Ristorante" but had never had the zeal to try it out (and I was proved right after my first experience). But decided to give it a try on that occasion. We reached early for lunch just to find... More

Eight of us (aged 7 to 72) had dinner early Sunday evening. I had made reservations online (very convenient), and we were a little early, but the table was ready. The food was delicious and unique but not "weird". The two children enjoyed their meals also; there isn't a kids menu, but the kitchen was able to accommodate them. The... More

At best, our group experience was a "3." The meatball appetizer was generous... and a couple of people liked the mushroom ravioli, said it was delicious. Others complained about uninteresting sauces and very undercooked pasta -- and the house salad was the most uninspired salad I've ever had. Service wasn't unfriendly -- just indifferent. An occasional smile would have been... More

Went at 8 pm on a Thursday night and it was almost empty when we got there. The place looks nice but the host was wearing a Tshirt, which I thought was oddly casual. While we were there, a large group came in and raised the energy level of the place. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was... More

We ate at Lucca's on a quiet Tuesday evening and the place was, for the most part, empty. Service was excellent and the atmosphere (despite being quite dark--dark enough to make reading a menu quite the challenge) was pleasant. Our arugula salads were delicious, as was my corn/crab chowder appetizer. Both entrees (spicy seafood pasta for me, fish for my... More

My wife and I ate at Lucca a few times in the last few weeks, and enjoyed the experience. Once was before a lecture, and they handled the crowd with aplomb. We were out in plenty of time. Menu favorites were ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms and salmon served over a kind of polenta made from--do I remember this correctly?--sunflower... More

Made reservations because it was a Friday evening. We were surprised it was not full when we arrived at 7:30pm. Perhaps it was the rain that was keeping people away. The food was really good, but the service a bit slow. Would return.

We came for Sunday brunch at 12:45 pm (ends at 2 pm). Made reservations because were coming from out of town. Actually, did not need them because the place had only 2-3 tables with total of 6 people dining. We were seated right away by the same person who served us. He brought the menus, no explanation about anything. We... More

This is fine restaurant. It can be thought of as a "neighborhood" restaurant, but that does not really do it justice. The food is excellent, as is the ambience (including outdoor seating), the staff pleasant, and the kitchen is ready to make adjustments (including providing gluten free pasta). And there is a semi-private room for groups. Parking can be challenging,... More
