I’ve read many reviews for this restaurant and, frankly, the mixed bag has kept me from trying this long time Burgh institution. We decided to give it a try and made reservations through open table. We entered and were quickly and pleasantly greeted by the hostess who sat us promptly. The waiter Bobby presented us with menus, a cocktail menu... More

Week day lunch-reunion with an old college friend who recommended the Carlton. So our socializing disrupted the normal service routine. Our friend was a regular, well known to the staff who offered very personal service. The waiter offered a dazzling array of specials and once ordered the food arrived promptly. Our party ordered an array of meals; everything from Etouffee... More

We arrived at 5:30pm Saturday (2/25) for our 6pm reservation to have cocktails at the bar before dinner & show at the Byham. Hubby parked in Mellon garage (hostess validated the parking) while I got seats and ordered cocktails at the bar. Ready to relax and enjoy our night started off a tad difficult do to the bartender complaining, complaining,... More

A few of my coworkers and I like this restaurant very much. The soups and salads are always fresh and tasty. They change the specials often so it doesn't get old or boring. Fay has been our server several times and she does a fabulous job.

We made reservations at The Carlton to celebrate our 41st anniversary. We were greeted both by the receptionist and our waiter with Happy Anniversary (I told them of it when making the reservation). From the very high level of service (thank you Bobby!!), the excellent quality of our meals, the recommended wines (Bobby again), the personal visit by the restaurant's... More

I know it must be boring for those reading all my reviews of the Carlton. I do so often as it is our favorite restaurant. Chef Simon has some amazing creations. Prices for food and wine are very good. And even from day 1 many years ago, (when we were newbies) the service has been excellent.

We had dinner here with a customer. The atmosphere was wonderful, from the lighting to the décor. We were seated quickly and our wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. The meal was delicious and we each had something different, from the beef tenderloin, salmon and sea scallops. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the portions were perfect. They have a... More

For less than $50 including the wine pairing to accompany the three course, three choice special you couldn't go Wrong. Warm welcome, professional service, outstanding wine selection at minimal markup, it's always a quality dining experience . The consistency is what keeps this venerated place always worth a visit.
