The ice cream is tasty and very reasonably priced. The scoops are huge, so you may be satisfied with one scoop. Sundaes, shakes and unique creations are available and we will return to try some. The restaurant also offers sandwiches and wraps that sounded good...but we only tried the ice cream on this visit.More

The store is filled with nostalgic items, but serves commercial ice cream, (Hersheys?). Had hoped for a home made, small town experience.

Love visiting this old gem, even if it just for a quick scoop. We always spend time craning our necks and looking around at this museum that is also a lunch/ice cream stop.

Eckels Pharmacy was the setting for one of the scenes in the movie Girl Interrupted. We visited Eckels shortly after the movie was released. It has since been converted to a restaurant / ice cream parlor. But they still have a pharmacy museum with the...original cabinetry, etc. They have limited hours, so check before you go. We went on the 1st Saturday of the month when they are open for breakfast. But we went for lunch and ice cream. The menu lists various sandwiches and wraps. They offer a couple specials that are not on the menu. Our sandwiches were very good and came with a pickle and a side. Afterwards we had dishes of ice cream. The scoops were gigantic. You may want to see how big they are before ordering two scoops. The prices were very reasonable. The owner must be doing this more out of love for the building's history than for money.More

This old fashioned drugstore is as quaint as all the reviews say and the ice cream and milkshakes (Hersheys) are excellent. But we also ordered lunch. Very lame and very slow. Get lunch elsewhere on this cute main street and then walk to Eckels for...dessert.More

Coming home thru town from dinner out and the lights at Eckels are on. The street are charmingly light and so we decide to stop to see what this old store is all about. Once inside I felt like I stepped back in time some...50 years. The counter, the fountain soda, the ice cream and the booths were just like I would have imagined them being way back when. The ice cream was great! The service very nice. Planning to stop back for lunch some soon and ice cream some evening when they are open. If you get the chance it worth the visit back in time.More

This is an old-fashion ice cream parlor which was once a Pharmacy. It features a bit of history in the building as well as antiques. This year there is a "Santa theme" in the Christmas decorations. Antique dishes and variety of items fill the shelves....We were visiting historical Mechanicsburg and this was on tour. We were treated to cookies (not homemade; but good) and hot chocolate and a little bit of history. There are pictures from "Girl Interrupted" movie which had an ice cream scene there. It still serves sandwiches, soft drinks, shakes and ice cream on the week-ends only.More

Stopped in to grab a milkshake. Friendle service in a family owned place. They display old, historic candy store items. A must if you are visiting Mechanicsburg.

Born and raised in M-burg, have been to Eckel's may times over the years. Used to be a Drug store. Still have the booth's from the 50's along with a Soda Fountain. Specialty is Ice Cream but do sell soup and sandwhich for lunch. Turn...back the clock, relieve the memories!More

I found this by accident, and the moment I stepped through the doors, I started smiling. It was like walking back into the past. Old time soda fountain, with a soda jerk wearing the peaked cap, apothecary jars with candy, a section from the original...drug store. The prices are ridiculously cheap, and the portions generous. Don't order the banana split, unless you're REALLY hungry, or are splitting it. I nearly didn't make it, but then I caught a second wind. Fun, appropriate menu items, like hot dogs, grilled cheese, etc. Nothing amazing, but you would not want to see steak in a place like this. Table top games like I remember from being a kid. Friendly staff, usually willing to chat. Tip: If you ask, and they're not busy, they might unlock the "old part" of the building and show you the original tin stamped ceiling, coat rack, etc, and possibly crank up the Victrola. They'll certainly show you the scenes from the movie that was filmed there. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place, and it breaks my heart that I might never be this way again. They really helped these last few months.More

Reminds me of places I went for ice cream when a kid. Good ice cream and nice portions. Make sure you check the antique apothecary items when it was a drug store.

This was a great place to take my daughter and show her the past. Don't miss out on this place. The old pharmacy in the back is a nice touch. Looking at all the old drugs with crazy names will make you smile.

Genuine old fashioned decor in the Original Ice Cream Parlor on the Main street in Historic Mechanicsburg Pa. Hardly a change since the 50's and earlier. Great Ice cream
