Atmosphere was pleasant, service was wonderful, and food was very good. However, if you do not eat red meat, you will find that the selections are limited. There was one vegetarian option on the menu that was appealing but without a protein...which is typical. Veggies and grains do not make a balanced vegetarian meal. (Is it that difficult to add... We went with high expectations...never a good thing to do. There were creative options on the menu, and the food was excellent with a lovely presentation. The service, for the price of the meal, was average...in fact, a bit condescending at times. I can never understand why such restaurants seem to need to compete, price-wise with Philadelphia and NYC. But... More

Overall the food was pretty good, but we were surprised to see farm raised salmon on the menu. Service on the other hand, was not as it should be. We were told (twice) by the steely bartender that there would be an "up charge" for stuffed olives in one of our cocktails. Server treated us like we were lucky to... More

We had reservations and good thing - the place filled up fast for a weeknight. We had found a parking spot next to the front door (there are just 4 of these beside the parking garage). Very lovely decor here. Interesting art with great appeal. Started with a glass of Victory Imperial Stout and Pinot Noir. Both were very good.... More

Was very happy with the delicious meal I had here. My husband and the couple who dined with us also enjoyed there food. Wish I could remember what I had! It was delicious though. I recommend this restaurant, especially if you are staying at the Lancaster Arts Hotel.

Pam at the BF Heistand B&B where we were staying recommended this and made our reservations. They were very accommodation of my wife's gluten sensitivity, pointing out dishes that could be adapted. The initial 'feel' was a bit more formal than our usual style, but we felt comfortable and relaxed. All the staff was attentive and friendly. The food was... More

If I could give 6 stars I gladly would. So far my dining experience at this establishment has always been top notch. Nothing has ever been missed and nothing should have been added. From the rustic Art Deco decor to the customer service and attention to detail in every dish, this restaurant clearly cares about not only what they are... More

During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him.

We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants.
As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant.
All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs.

Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs.

We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.
